The Emblems for CMO and XMO posed a problem.  There was simply no aesthetically pleasing way to make a pin with more than two stars that would fit on the collar.  My goal was to create an emblem that would clearly denote a position of superiority.  My solution presented to CMO Michael Tolwyn was to mount the PMO pin on a solid metal plate, or to surround the PMO pin with a rectangular ring.  Michael chose the plate and I crafted three images using gold, silver, and a combination of the two metals.  I had hoped to use gold on gold for the CMO, but Michael was taken with the gold on silver emblem, and that became the CMO pin.  The XMO would use the silver on silver.  Eventually, the CMO would switch to using the gold on gold, but he would choose to use the pin on both the right and the left sides of the collar as shown below.
