"Space,
The Outer Rim. These are the reports of the Imperator Class II Star Destroyer
Vanguard... Its continuing mission to suppress strange alien worlds. To
wipe out alien life and rebellious populations. To boldly plunder planets
for plumbers!"
<salute>
Great...
Khaddy is on leave for once and all hell breaks loose. Hence no real fiction
this time... just some useful information about the ship we live on.
I'll start right with the bad stuff, so you guys know what's going on:
1.
First
this: VA Chrusos "VitCarp" Ichthys, ASF BGCOM this morning resigned his
position and left the fleet completely. This is following troubles with
the FO and XO, they'll release more information as time goes by I'm sure.
As a result we're without a BGCOM for now, and so shortly after this many
position changes already this might cause a problem filling all needed
spots. Don't worry, we on the Vanguard will just sit tight and ride the
waves - I for one are not going anywhere (I hope).
Then...
from the Fleet XO, HA Kawolski: "The database has recently caught several
cheaters who were either sharing pilot files or stealing pilot files (i.e.
a CMDR takes his FM's pilot files, renames them, and submits them to his
WC as the CMDR's own). These cases are currently being investigated.
Keep
in mind that the punishment for cheating for FIRST TIME OFFENDERS is a
demotion to Sub Lieutenant, loss of all medals (except the OV), loss of
all high scores, and a perm ban (which applies to all clones as well) off
the battle board and FCHG system. Repeat offenders are expelled.
The
rule is simple: One pilot file for one PIN # only. Don't share your pilot
file with friends. Don't share your pilot file with clones to try to get
double the credit for the work done."
Just
when the XO posts this, one of our CMDRs got suspended. Hanging any verdict
from the HCI or decision by CPT Raven we actually don't really know what's
happening. But seen experience there is a high likelihood that we will
be needing a new Scorpion CMDR soon.
Until
this case is resolved or we get ourselves a new Scorpion CMDR. I appoint
LCM Schitzo of Scorpion as A-CMDR. Scorpion Pilots are to send their weekly
reports to him, pilot files and such go to me or Khadgar.
2.
Outside
all of this messiness there's also some fun stuff around this ship ofcourse!
First I'd like to welcome back FM/LCM Solor Werwax to Mantis, after he
has been in the reserves for a bit. FM/SL Dankin and FM/SL Shark
joined us from out of Daedalus, welcome Sub Lieutenants!
Also...
I've been working on our new Site... which is now practically up and running.
The idea of the site is to be your center for whatever you might need TC/Ship/Wing
or game wise. Currently it has links to our rosters, reports, Major Khadgar's
Office, our Message board, an ICQ on/offline status page (will be expanded
upon), the Vanguard competitions, and the squadron sites... I've tried
to make it as usable for everybody as possible. If you have a smaller resolution
and some of the links have gone offscreen, try the pull down menu... it
has all the same links.
If
you have any suggestions or additions to the site, don't hesitate to contact
me.
3.
All
right, now the site is up and running, we can get the The Vanguard interactive
Graphics Competition and the Vanguard interactive Fiction Competition on
the road. The competitions will start Sunday in the next wing report BUT
you can already send in your submissions! The competition will run for
a month, and getting in your work early will give you more chance on votes
for your work. All already entered submissions will come online sunday
as well... until that time I've put up a demo version with two pieces of
fiction and two pictures by your lovable flag officers. If you not sure
how this competition will run, I suggest you check the demo out: http://isdvanguard.emperorshammer.ca/vifc/
Starting
Date: 25/02/2001
Ending
Date: 25/03/2001
Parties
Involved: All pilots onboard the ISD Vanguard and Wing XV
Missions/Battles
Used: none, graphics and fiction competitions
Miscellaneous
Details: The Vanguard interactive Graphics Competition and the Vanguard
interactive Fiction Competition.
- Submitted
Graphics and Fiction will be put on the site, with a script allowing viewers
to rate the work. they'd give a rating 1 to 10 and their idline. Who has
the
highest
rating in each competition at the end will get an IS Silver Ribbon, runner
up will get a IS Bronze Ribbon.
- All
submissions should have content that is centered around the ISD Vanguard
and it's Squadrons and should not involve Code of Conduct violations. All
submitted
graphics
and fiction will be uploaded to the site the moment they have been reviewed.
- Only
votes by TIE Corps members will be counted. Voters should state their IDLine
without medals and such to confirm their votes. Votes and Rating will be
updated
daily after the votes are reviewed. Votes for your own work will not be
counted, nor will automated or mass votes.

Email: a.c.w.t.zwegers@bk.tudelft.nl or dmelenchuk@home.com
Other
Information: - Graphics and Fiction submissions will be reviewed by
either MAJ Khadgar or RA Ender mBind. CPT jdf1984 has volunteerd to check
the votes
and calculate/update
the scores on the site. (=not fully automated).
- This
competition has several goals besides getting in some excellent Graphics
and Fiction: Because participants may need to promote their work in order
to get
higher
ratings, it increases interfleet communication, plus that it makes our
own crew and the rest aware of our new Site and it's location. (so basically:
it's a Vanguard
Propaganda
Competition;) )
As
closing statement I'd like to make that the point of this competition will
not only be to see some of that great art by you guys but also that you
go out to get people to vote FO for that work of yours. In this I must
ask you to be gentle... spamming all TC email boxes or Message boards is
that the preferred way;)
3.
While
we got that to keep our creative minds busy, our fighters will want to
look into the ASF Vengeance Competition of
this month, which has started friday!
Started:

Ends:

Participants:
The
whole Aggressor Strike Fleet
Description:
All three wings will encourage as many of their pilots as they can
to participate in the November XWA and XvT WoWs.
At the
conclusion of the WoW, the wing that has the highest overall pilot score
would be the winner. And will gain the right to modify the title and motto
of the losing wing. At the end of the XvT WoW the wing ranking in points
within the EH will be determined. For first place a wing gets 1 point,
2 for second, 3 for third place. The same is then done after the XWA wow.
Both scores are added to each other and the ship with the lowest amount
of points is the overall winner.
For the
top 3 _rated_ scoring pilots on any of the three wing in both games there
will be medals to be gained. (10 games min to get a rating)”
I'll
make the top scoring pilot COM's Protector. the Week of War is an "Open"
event where clubs from all over the XvT and XWA Community participate in
a week long, fly till you drop event. Score keeping is handled by the database
and provides real time stats in a vast array of categories. This means
you can now fly 24/7 and score plenty medals. The EH is just about in the
top 5 every time and just needs that extra effort to really get there.
Remember
that you need to sign up with BSC to play in this competition. If you need
help with that, your CMDR, WC and COM are there for you. I hope to have
a BSC guide on our site soon.

- In an attempt to complete
the OPS Office's archive of unit patches, it is necessary that all squadrons

and make sure that if your squadron has a patch and it is not on there,
that it be submitted to CA:OPS/VA Wet Willy at wetwilly@jedi.nu as soon
as possible. Also, if you have a patch on there, but have a more recent
one, please submit the new one. If your doesn't have one and you don't
know how to or don't want to make one... I can make one for any Vanguard
Squad of course.
- If you want credit for Outer
Rim Night wins, don't forget to send AD Zsinj your OR Pinat slookabill@home.com
(once)! This is to save time for awarding LoC's and credit to TC.org.
