Echo Squadron
Report #2
2.18.2001 - LC DS-61-4

Greetings and Salutations everyone,

Lieutenant Colonel DS-61-4 reporting in for Echo Squadron. The report is long, so bare with me. It is going to be broken down into several sections that is both informative and important. First, lets start with the news.

ASF News-

Our beloved BGCOM has issued a new competition battlegroup wide. If it isn't a competition than Echo Squadron WILL see it as a competition. Here is the rules and regulations of the competition given from Vice Admiral Chrusos Ichthys himself.

Pilots, attend

During the next two weeks, I encourage every ASF squad to complete as many citations as they possibly can.

I have a screenshot showing each squad's current number of citations. On March 2, 2000, I will take another screenshot and compare citation lists.

Points will be assigned to each new citation gained:

Four points to each citation in the ship's primary platform,
One point for each other citation.Squadrons with fewer than six pilots will be accredited with half the citations they would have if the squadron had six pilots.

I'll award:

an IS-GW to the pilot with the most BSFs in the squad that gained the most citation-points;
an IS-SW to the pilot with the most BSFs in the squad that gained the second most citation-points; and
an IS-BW to the pilot with the most BSFs in the squad that gained the third most citation-points.

Pilots, good luck and happy hunting!

Vanguard News:

The giant behemoth hallways of the ISD II Vanguard laid quiet this week. Though, if I am not mistaken the VIB (Vanguard Interactive Battle) is still going on. The information can be found at
Imperial DataBase

Wing XV News:

The powerful starfighters of Wing XV, are on their daily patrols protecting the Vanguard and her sister ships as the Vanguard stops to Aurora Prime for maintenance and supplies. She will be back to the front lines in a few days.

Echo Squadron News:

Fly for our beloved BGCOM in this "competition". Keep on flying, keep in contact, and if any of you have any ideas, don't hesitate to e-mail me at Mortis703@aol.com.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Commander Zero Pain for being awarded a Palpatine Crescent(PC) for his awesome activity and flying nonstop battles. Keep up the excellent work Lieutenant Commander!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright hotshots, this is the part of the report that is most important to Echo Squadron. I will give, in detail, what I want and expect from all of you in this squadron. From positions to flying. It will all be in here in full detail.

Positions-

Positions within Echo Squadron are all very important. Every officer within that position holds an extremely important responsibility. From the Squadron Commander to the Flight Member, each pilot must be active, responsible, and happy with not only his/her position, but the squadron in general. I will start with the position of Squadron Commander.

Squadron Commander (CMDR)-

An excerpt taken from the Training Manual.

Position Description: The Squadron Commander manages the day to day operations of the squadron, including maintaining continuous contact with Flight Members, Flight Leaders, reviewing mission/battle performance and making recommendations to the Wing Commander for Medal awards and/or Rank/Position promotions. Squadron Commanders may select the Banners and Mottoes of their Squadrons by reporting directly to the Operations Officer and Flight Officer, respectively if they don't have one already.

Squadron Commander (CMDR)-Is the most active and important position within a squadron. S/He maintains and holds the squadron together with a certain aura of authority and power. The CMDR is a very prestigious position and the first real command position. The Commander does maintain day-to-day operations and main job is to make everyone happy AND active.

Command Responsibilities:
Oversee the operation of the squadron
Keep in contact with Flight Members and Flight Leaders
Review medal recommendations from the squadron
Review comments, questions, etc from the squadron
Report to the Wing Commander with recommendations
Forward emails, where appropriate, from superior officers to the squadron
Inform the squadron of important events, competitions, etc
Completes BSFs for all pilots under his/her command
Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)
Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
Participate in competitions (where possible)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible)

Flight Leader (FL)-

An excerpt taken from the Training Manual.

Position Description: The Flight Leader is the leader of three other Flight Members and maintains contact with his/her Flight Members, as well as makes recommendations to the Squadron Commander regarding individual Flight performance. In addition, the Flight Leader is the first person a Flight Member should go with a request or question.

Flight Leader (FL)-The Flight Leaders are usually the two most active members besides the CMDR. The Flight Leader's responsibilty within Echo Squadron is important. If the Flight Leader uses good judgement and feels or wants to give his/her flight some assignment, etc. Then he/she can IF the CMDR knows about it.

Command Responsibilities:
Keep in contact with Flight Members
Review medal recommendations from Flight Members
Review comments, questions, etc from Flight Members
Report to Squadron Commander with recommendations
Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)
Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
Participate in competitions (where possible)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible)

Flight Member(FM)-

An excerpt taken from the Training Manual.

Position Description: The Flight Member is a Trainee who has completed his or her training and has been assigned to a squadron for active duty. Flight Members are the primary activity base within the TIE Corps, participating in competitions, making submissions to the Newsletter, posting on message boards, talking with fellow members and other activities. In addition, Flight Members are encouraged to interact with their immediate superiors (Flight Leaders and/or Squadron Commanders) in regards to any questions or suggestions they may have.

The Flight Member is one of the most important positions within a squadron. The Flight Members hold the squadron together and determine whether or not the the squadron is a success or not.

Command Responsibilities:
Submissions for the Emperor's Hammer Newsletter (sent to the Executive Officer)
Post/read the Emperor's Hammer message boards (where possible)
Participate in competitions (where possible)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible)
Recommendations for medals and promotions (should be forwarded to the Squadron Commander)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The two positions that were just written are extremely important within any squadron. Echo Squadron though, will have two (as of right now) other positions that are up for grabs for any applicant that proves their worth.

Executive Officer (XO)-

The Executive Officer (XO) is the second-in-command when the CMDR is absent for reasons known. The XO must show that s/he is well capable of commanding a squadron or has some knowledge of knowing how to command. The XO, though usually a Flight Leader, is not always the FL. The XO must be active and alive. Usually the XO is one of the most active members and has the patience and respect to take the responsiblity of command. Also, usually the XO will help with opinions and problems if any, occuring within the squadron.

Command Responsibilities:
Keep in contact with Squadron Commander
Oversee the operation of the squadron (When necessary)
Keep in contact with Flight Members and Flight Leaders
Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Participate in competitions (where possible/when necessary)
Attend on-line meetings (where possible/when necessary)

Communications Officer (CO)-

The Communications Officer maintains and keeps up-to-date the website(s) for Echo Squadron. The officer must have good HTML skills and will be awarded most definitely if s/he does a splendid job. The CO will also have Admin duties on the TC site Emperor's Hammer TIE Fighter Corps - An Online Star Wars Gaming Club
helping update and create an excellent website and/or if necessary message board. The CO must be active and have good HTML skills. The rewards will be worth it:)

Command Responsibilities:
Keep in contact with Squadron Commander
Excellent HTML skills
Be familar with primary reference materials (Training Manual, etc)
Be FULLY aware of the CoC's and AoW's
Be familar with primary TIE Corps and Emperor's Hammer webpages (Emperor's Hammer domain, TIE Corps domain, TIE Corps roster, message board, etc)

As of right now, these are all the positions that will be in Echo Squadron. Though, some can either be taken away or new ones can also be taken into consideration.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Squadron Assignments:

Besides the flying for the BGCOM, several assignments will be given out.

1) Fly. Fly anything and as much as you can.
2) Keep in contact as much as possible.
3) Fiction. I love writing/reading fiction. If you have any fiction that you want to work on or are in the process of making, please let me enjoy it:) It can also help the VIB.
4) Any suggestions or comments on a new motto/nickname for the flights will be looked at.
5) Give me ideas for a new operation that is going to take place. Operation Echo.

Operation Echo is an idea to make Echo Squadron become better and more noticable than ever before. The Operation will have several phases. Not only will this benefit Echo Squadron, but the wing, maybe even the ASF as a whole.

Operation (or Project) Echo is a multi-staged assignment that is going to be fun, rewarding, and when it works:) an awesome achievement. Much effort, patience, and fun will be needed. Not only will flying be involved, but pratically everything else will also be needed to make Operation Echo work. It will be broke down in several phases, and certain groups will work on different sections.

Phase I-The first phase is rather broad and simple. Fly/write/draw as much as you can. Get familiar with what your good at so you will be good and useful in the proceeding phases.

Phase II-Once everyone is familar with everything, Echo Squadron will first work on making a name for themselves in the TIE Corps. People know Echo Squadron, but only as a name. I want Echo Squadron to be looked at like Tornado or Praetorian Squadrons. In Phase II, Echo Squadron will capture everyone's eye with awesome activity and many submissions of the sorts. I even want the FO to be impressed. Advertisement can also help. Anyone who can make graphics or the sort who can submit them to various EH places will also contribute greatly.

Phase III-After Echo Squadron makes a name for themselves as being active, we should work on being known as submitting an awful lot to various places within the EH. Mostly, as a squadron that can make missions/battles as a group. Everyone will contribute and the result will be awesome battle/missions for XWA or even other platforms. There will be people that have different task.

Taskforce I-Fiction. Write a good storyline, plot, briefings, etc. for the mission or battle. It must be good and make sense to the Star Wars Universe.
Taskforce II-Advertisement. Advertise the squadron and mission/battle. Create graphics for even cooler and unusual ideas for the mission(s).
Taskeforce III-Create battle/mission. People that have graduated from mission designing are to help and create the missions, that the fiction writers and squadron members agreed on. The rewards will be more than satisfactory.
Taskforce IIII-Testing. One or two individuals who are either less or not skilled in any of the other taskforces will test for bugs and gliches when it is completed. Though the TAC tests for these, we want them to think we know what we're doing. This can really get some of the Command Staff to notice us.

I am still unsure of other phases that are needed in Operation Echo. It is still in its prototype stage. So, help will be taken into complete consideration.
