Quote: Fly for me, Bird of the Sun
Significant Events of Childhood and Adolescence: In a small cluster of stars beyond the rim, a small, rocky planet is invaded and dominated by barbarians far more powerful and technologically advanced than the indigenous race inhabiting it. Millions are slaughtered, towns are pillaged, women taken for the pleasure of these brigands, and children are sold as slaves to all parts of the galaxy. Generations of people are born into servitude, and it is within one of many these slave pens we find a frightened but sensible young man, biding his time, waiting for his shining light.
Significant Events of Adulthood: In the slave pens of some unknown race, he did hear myths and ledgends of a small rocky planet, with vast plains and soaring peaks, with dancing shadows that played in the night. His mission it did become to reunite with the ancient ones - to free his people from torment and enslavement. And so he set about learning skills of which would lead him towards his true identity.
Alignment and Attitude: The slave pens were places of forced co-habitation with a multitude of other races, and was fraught with conflict. But he had patience, and soon developed dialog with many worldly beings.
Former Occupations: The duties of a slave, however degrading, did teach him that the largest thing relies upon the smallest. To the people above, the slaves were nothing, but they were essential. During his time he did work with many beings, and heard stories of the universe beyond - the wonders of technology and culture outside the dank pit in which he was forced to live.
Hobbies: Of all the stories he was most fascinated by that of the Jedi. Back in the recesses of his mind he did remember the last, the oldest of his race in slavery, speaking about the great magic of the elders.
Tragedies: And so it came to pass that Mahak de Lay (Bird of the Sun) did overcome the degenerate slave routine, and flew he did from those who would hold his soul, his being, back from his true destiny. With guile and stealth he stole away from his tormenters, with nothing but the shirt upon his back and boots upon his feet.
With heavy heart did he turn his back upon his enslaved people, and ventured forth into the light to become redeemed. Grim and determined his resolve became, possessed by a spirit passed down through generations; that voice that calls from ancients past, and urges him to be the deliverer of his race.
Phobias and Allergies: Many years he travelled, many people he met, and all pointed towards one fact - the great war. Whilst Rebel did fight Imperial, whilst planets lived and died, he did make his way through the galaxy, searching for a place in it's great machine.
Personal View of the Empire and EH: Of all the political organisations, he viewed the largest with wide eyes. Here was the place he searched for - and in that instant he knew his purpose. To join the struggle, to climb the ladder, and reach a point where he may lead a force to free his people.
Reason for enlisting in the EH: Half blinded, maimed and limping did he approach the Empire, and besought a place within it's great clockwork. The first years were not easy. Like a mangy dog he was kicked around, not much higher than the slave he once was. Then came the day when all would change.
Working as a labourer on a small platform, one does not hear much of what is around him. But for one with an ear to the ground, the ground does speak itself. When his platform came under attack from a Rebel strike force, the ground screamed at him. The ancients called to him, instructing him. Memories; impressions; skills; all these came to him in a flood of images. He knew what he must do.
Other Comments: He flew, battled and rebels, and played no small part in the victory. It did not go unnoticed by the station officials, and a few days later he was off to basic training.
And so it came to pass on that bright day,
the elders spoke, his soul did find it's way.
"Fly for us, Bird of the Sun" the ancients say,
the deliverer made his move,
this man,
Mahak de Lay.
