Family: Krax's parents were some of the original colonists sent by the Empire to settle and develop the planet Ullyr. His father was a mildly accomplished TIE fighter pilot, and his mother worked with the ground support crews. Upon expiration of his enlistment, Dax Tarnisar elected to remain on Ullyr with his family. It was a bad choice.
Social Status: Poor
Quote: Wookiees....
Significant Events of Childhood and Adolescence: Krax's childhood was quiet enough, considering its circumstances. For the first ten years of his life his father was rarely home, and his mother saw to the needs of the family. Growing up as part of the planet's garrison, Krax heard many "fighter pilot" stories, and has always had something of a love affair with the TIE fighter. One of his earliest memories is the unloading of the first group of Wookiee slaves. One of them growled at the boy, frightening him badly. The birth of his sister when he was five was something of a mixed blessing, since it meant that the limited parental attention would have to be split between two children. By the time he was thirteen, Krax was spending more time hanging out around the barracks, doing small chores in exchange for being allowed to listen to the troopers' stories. He was especially interested in tales told by those working on a new ISD; the "Relentless." One day he hoped to be a TIE pilot on that mighty warship. Recently this dream came true in unexpected fashion when Krax was promoted and assumed command of one of the Relentless' squadrons.
Significant Events of Adulthood: Perhaps the most shattering development in Krax's life came just over a year ago, in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor. The sudden departure of the Imperial garrison and CSA defense troops took the natives by surprise, but not as much as the Wookiees' quick return to their tribal roots. No one expected the uprising, let alone a young man who was just starting the application process for the Imperial Academy. Krax had decided that he wanted to be like his father and those other pilots he grew up admiring.
But all that came to an end one night. Krax's family lived just on the edge of the forest, in a modest dwelling where his father did some work as a supervisor on one of the plantations using Wookiees. Unfortunately he didn't recognize the mood of his underlings. He took their rebellion for a minor fit of temper, and tried to restore order. The head Wookiee, a brute named Char'tallon, stormed Dax Tarnisar's speeder and ripped the overseer to bits, throwing his limbs into the frenzied crowd. Whipped into a bloodlust, the massed Wookiees turned their attention to the overseer's home. They broke into the house, slaughtering all who were there. They showed slight regard for Krax's little sister, one of them carelessly throwing her through an exterior wall.
Alignment and Attitude: Krax is pro-Imperial, although he does harbor some resentment against the CSA, who he feels left his parents to die on Ullyr. His primary loyalty is to his superiors in the EH and TIECorps, as he knows little of the Emperor aside from what he'd seen on the holos.
Former Occupations: Krax has worked as a fighter ground crew member, as well as a Wookiee overseer.
EH Career: First assigned to Flight 2, Thunder Squadron, Wing X, ISD Challenge
2/2/01 - Promoted to Commander and moved to take command of Spear Squadron, Wing IX, ISD Relentless
Hobbies: Growing up on a forest world, Krax developed the odd hobby of woodcarving. He does this under moments of stress, whittling away as if nothing else matters. Recently he has also developed a strong interest in the history of the Emperor's Hammer. Researching, as it were, the family tree of his new home.
Tragedies: When Krax returned home from the nearby spaceport, he found the butchered remains of his family. Stricken with grief, he proceeded to kill any Wookiees he could find. He never managed to find the slayer of his father, Char'tallon. This is perhaps the greatest disappointment of his life, and he longs for the day when he can square accounts. When their numbers grew too great, he fled back to the port, carrying word of the rampage. After that he didn't talk to anyone for a week. Even now he won't speak about his family.
Phobias and Allergies: Krax hates Wookiees with a passion. Even being in the same room with one causes him extreme discomfort bordering on panic.
Personal View of the Empire and EH: Krax's feelings towards the Empire are somewhat tainted by his experiences at Ullyr. He feels that one faction of the Empire let his family down. However, he is very loyal to the EH, as they were the ones who rescured some of the remaining humans on Ullyr. They are also dedicated to destroying the Wookiees on Ullyr, a goal he can endorse completely.
Reason for enlisting in the EH: Krax enlisted in the EH mostly to follow his boyhood dream of becoming a pilot. Also, there is nothing left for him on his home world. By getting out into the darkness of space he hopes to find some sort of solice and healing for the deaths of his family. Also, he was impressed with the discipline and organization of the EH, something that was sorely lacking in the final days of the Ullyr garrison's stay on that planet.
Also, in the back of his mind, he is hoping to find Char'tallon. The rumor mills on Ullyr have it that the Wookiee joined the New Republic soon after the uprising was crushed by Hammer troops. An encounter with Char'tallon would cause Krax to disregard all but the most direct orders in his rage and desire to avenge his father and family.
Other Comments: Krax hopes to do his duty to the best of his ability.
