Heir Today, Gone Tommorow

Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow is the story of Admiral Thrakus, who threatens, with his Star Destroyer, the "First of Doom", to strike a blow at the always fragile, Heart of the New Republic (TM). To add to the "tension", an ambitious Bothan, named Asteri seeks control of the New Republic fleets. And of course, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia and the usual gang must save the galaxy from certain "doom".

Chapter One

Admiral Thrakus looked out from the bridge of the Imperial Star Destroyer Fist of Doom. The planet Averam steadily grew larger on the view screen. "We are here, Admiral," Colonel Teyph commented. Lieutenant Fuji spoke up, "Shall we disable the supply ship and use the supplies to aid us in our war effort?" Admiral Thrakus looked coldly at Fuji, "Of course not, we will deal minor damage to the ship so it can go back home and tell the entire galaxy that we are on the lose. Secondly, we will move in and turn that small planet and turn it into slag."

The Fist of Doom approached the small transport and fired its turbolasers. "The transport is sending a signal, sir," Lieutenant Fuji said. "Let's hear them," Admiral Thrakus said. "This is Captain Daven of the Transport Dubar, we surrender." Admiral Thrakus grinned and replied, "No Captain, you may go free, and send word to the Rebellion that I will continue my hit and fade attacks with my Star Destroyers until the Rebellion is completely destroyed!" Thrakus paused and looked over at Fuji, "Move in on the planet, open turbolaser batteries when within range." When in range, the Fist of Doom opened fire, decimating a few Rebel encampments, but not enough to do significant damage when Thrakus told Fuji, "That should make and effective demonstration, Colonel Teyph, in my office, please."

Colonel Teyph sat down opposite Admiral Thrakus in his office. "Colonel Teyph, how is Intelligence making out on the trial of Luke Skywalker?" Thrakus asked. "Well, my lord, we believe we almost have him," Teyph said. "Good, good, and the Bothan operation?" Thrakus inquired. "The Rebellion should be in total chaos when we are done." Teyph said. Thrakus grinned and said, "Today is the start of the end of the Rebellion." The two cackled evilly and started back towards the bridge.

Luke Skywalker gazed out of the window inside the Imperial Palace. For all he knew, the Palace could be infested with traps and listening devices, making it the perfect place to form a new stable government for the galaxy. As he pondered, Leia came from behind him and said, "You transport is ready, your new Jedi candidates are eager to get started." Luke nodded and walked down the corridor into the docking bay. He walked into the docking bay find the transport ready for departure, Leia kissed him and Luke walked up the ramp and was greeted by a talk man in robes. "Greetings, Master Skywalker, I am Ragdahk, I want to learn the ways of the force." Luke Skywalker grinned, not too long ago; he had been a young boy, now many years later, he was still young, although he had gained Jedi experience. The transport blasted away from the station, unaware of the interest that had been generated regarding its fate.

Leia proceeded towards the Council Chamber, she'd spent a lot of time there lately. The Bothan delegation, led by Councilor Asteri, had been demanding more influence within the Alliance on matters, typical Bothan politics. Suddenly a speaker crackled and a voice started, "Averam is under attack by Imperial Forces, transmitting distress signal now!" Leia leaned back in her chair, not more Imperial attacks, she thought. "This is Averam… We are under attack by Imperial Forces, Republic Command, Please help us!" The transmission ended in static. Admiral Ackbar stood up, "We must help these people, they pose a serious threat to the New Republic." Councilor Asteri sneered, "How do we know this isn't some kind of Imperial trap!?" Asteri continued, "I suggest we send a scouting craft, that way if there are Imperials there, we can see them." Ackbar sighed, "Obviously the Imperials are there, didn't you listen to the distress signal? Let's just attack." Asteri laughed, "Ackbar you have no regard for the average citizen." Ackbar shook his head, "The average citizen is dying right now on Averam and you want to scout the enemy out to make sure they are there? You wouldn't spot a Hutt Lord if he came and sat on you, now take your place, Councilor." Asteri sat down and Ackbar continued, "We will deploy Rogue Squadron at once." Suddenly, a man appeared at the entrance to the chamber, "I'm with them to!" Councilor Asteri sneered, "Smuggler, you have no place here." Ackbar looked at Asteri, "Han Solo was here fighting for us long before you, Asteri." Ackbar looked at Han, "You may go, but make it fast, the Imperials are no doubt almost gone by now."

"Almost ready for hyperspace," Lieutenant Fuji said. "Excellent, Lieutenant," Thrakus said. "Admiral, Rebels dropping out of hyperspace!" Thrakus grinned, "Launch two TIE Fighter Squadrons." Fuji turned, "Sir, with all due respect, why don't we launch ALL of our Squadrons!?" Thrakus looked visibly disappointed, "No, Lieutenant, two Squadrons should be able to handle it." Thrakus leaned back in his command chair, "Colonel, launch Alpha and Beta Squadrons." Teyph nodded, "Alpha and Beta Squadrons engaging the enemy."

"This is Rogue Leader, all X-Wings into attack formation." Han Solo grinned and said, "Roger that, Rogue Leader." "Rogue Leader, Incoming TIE Fighters!" Chewbacca growled, "Yeah, this won't be easy, pal," Han agreed. "Captain Solo, the odds of us getting destroyed are 240234029349025943644574777474.84 to 1!" C-3P0 said, frantically. "Never quote me the odds," Han said, as he put the Falcon into a roll to dodge a TIE Fighter. "I can't shake 'em!" one of the pilots said. "I'm on him," General Wedge Antilles said. Wedge moved quickly from side to side and shot two laser bolts directly into the cockpit of the TIE Fighter. "Great shot, Rogue Leader!" Suddenly Wedge said half stunned through the Comlink, "Han! Two on your tail!" Han cursed and put the Falcon to Full Speed, "Prepare to make the jump to hyperspace." C-3P0 spoke up, "Sir!" Han motioned to Chewbacca, "Shut him up or shut him down!" C-3P0 said, "But Sir, that Destroyer is in the way!" Han countered, "Well why didn't you say so?" Han sighed and said, "Chewie, take us in closer." C-3P0 said frantically, "But Sir, the odds of surviving an assault on an Imperial Star Destroyer are-" Chewie pushed C-3P0 away and Han said, "Brace yourself." The Falcon narrowly went under the Star Destroyer, and hit it with a thud, causing the radar dish to fall off. "All right, prepare to make the jump to hyperspace, head for the planet Scammonea," Chewbacca roared in disapproval. "Just trust me on this one, Chewie." Chewbacca fed the co-ordinates into the Nav Computer, "Punch it, Chewie!" Suddenly, the stars become streaks of light, and suddenly the Falcon was approaching a massive red planet. They got into the atmosphere and saw a massive port of assorted spaceships surrounded by a massive structure. "This is the Millennium Falcon, requesting to permission to land." The Comlink crackled and a voice came through, "Permission granted, you may land on Landing Pad 95." Han repeated, "95."

The Millennium Falcon touched down on the landing pad, the ramp came down and Han Solo and Chewbacca walked out. They were greeted by none other than Lando Calrissian, "I didn't expect you to come around here, you old pirate you." Han grinned, "We ran into some Imperial trouble, can you make repairs?" Lando paused and said, "Sure, old buddy, I'll have my people work on it right away." Han continued grinning, "You old softy." Lando pointed his hands towards a nearby door, "Why don't I show you around, you old pirate?" Han nodded, "Sure, you old smoothy." Lando walked threw the door, Han and Chewbacca behind him. "What is this place?" Han inquired. "I'm a respectable business man, remember that," Lando replied. "Okay, but what do you make here?" Han replied. "Not make, sell, we sell used spaceships." Lando replied, "Come on, I'll show you around."

"Are you convinced it was worth it, Councilor Asteri? Like usual, Rogue Squadron was barely damaged." Councilor Asteri's fur rippled, "I suppose so, but may I also present this information to the Council," he said, holding up a datapad. Leia took the datapad and looked at it:

Admiral Ackbar - Bank of Courscant: Account #324324

- 2000 Credits: Contour Chair
+ 600 Credits: Salary
+ 50000 Credits: Bribe from Imperial Forces

"As you can see, the Admiral has been accepting bribes from our greatest enemy, the," Asteri looked down at the datapad, "The Imperial Forces, yes, that's the one." Mon Mothma stood up, "In light of this new evidence, Admiral Ackbar is hereby under arrest. You are now in command of our fleets, Admiral Asteri." Asteri grinned, "Thank you, Mon Mothma."
