January 18,
2001 --
The second issue of Star Wars Gamer -- Wizards of the Coast's
full-color bimonthy magazine -- features a fleet's worth of pirates,
privateers and pilots in various articles and short stories set
in the Star Wars galaxy.
Legendary
smugglers Fenig Nabon and Talon Karrde cut a deal full of compli-cations
in "A Credit for Your Thoughts," a short story by Tish Eggleston
Pahl and Chris Cassidy. Daniel Wallace tells a tale of Captain Panaka
uncovering a sinister conspiracy on Naboo with the unlikely help
of an ancient leviathan in "The Monster."
Players of the roleplaying game will find an assortment of pilot
portraits in the Rogues Gallery that will help you round out your
character's appearance. An article on the Corellian Engineering
Corporation provides several new ship designs to use. The University
of Sambra's Guide to Intelligent Life this time takes a close look
at the Duros.
Two adventures
provide quick tales for gamemasters looking to tell a story: "The
Lambda Heist" gives the players the assignment of stealing an Imperial
shuttle. "Snow Job" sets the heroes in the midst of a crossfire
on the frigid world of Ando Prime.
For players of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, Gamer provides
deckbuilding tips for the Death Star II expansion set -- including
a recipe for a powerful Rogue Squadron-themed deck.
The latest look at LucasArts rounds out this issue, with coverage
of Super Bombad Racing, Starfighter and Star Wars: Demolition.
The second issue of Star Wars Gamer hits newstands in February.
