"Space,
The Outer Rim. These are the reports of the Imperator Class II Star Destroyer
Vanguard... Its continuing mission to suppress strange alien worlds. To
wipe out alien life and rebellious populations. To boldly raid planets
for refills of wine, beer and cheese dips!"
ViB Mission Report:
Submitted by: FM/LT Strahd/Mantis
3-3/Wing XV/ISD Vanguard
Mission: Genko Warning Assault
Crew: Python Squadron
Target: Rebel FRG Austin
Duration: 10:19 minutes
Mission Status: Completed
After getting suited up and out the hanger,
we hypered out to our target. Upon arriving, we faced an incredible force.
I was part of the
group that was to destroy the frigate. But
I noticed that our escort was getting severely pounded by the attacking
X-wings so I broke off to cover the rest of the strike force. (Looking
back, I realize I should have followed orders but I was able to stall the
X-wings to buy us more time.).
After breaking off I immediately engaged two
X-wings and took them both out. Our Attack group was hammering the frigate
and soon after it blew up in a glorious fireball. During this time, our
escorts were being attacked by an attack transport so I lobbed in 6 torpedoes
at it to make sure it left them alone, (I had to cover the escape if any
of us were to make it back).
Then I proceeded to attack the X-wings and
A-wings. We then fell under attack by a group of Y-wings... I didn't even
see them coming. They must have been escorting the freighter. So I broke
off and took a few missile hits but stayed in the game. I was furious!
So I ripped loose on them and got dragged into a fire fight with T-wings!
We exchanged fire and I took a few more missile hits.
I pumped all laser and leveled out my shields
to regain them. After getting back to full strength, I took them on. I
wiped out at least a group of T-wings and another one of A-wings. The freighter
finally docked and I decided to bug out. While trying to hyper out I took
a few more missile hits and wasn't able to redistribute my shields in time...
Needless to say I got thrown into the vacuum and was rescued a few hours
later.
I realize I should have taken out the T-wings
before trying to hyper out. Had I done that, I might not have lost my craft.

Well, first report
in a while. Thanks VA Blade for bringing out the last Wing report. You'll
notice this one is a bit different, as I've decided to send you the competition
information in a separate mail. This thing was getting way oversized, don't
you think? And this one is already long because of the load of news we
have so lets move on....
1.
Well things have
certainly changed since the last report, we're now down to 3 active Squadrons,
we have a new BGCOM (VA VitCarp, formerly Grey Mutt WC), MAJ Archon and
CM Hawk are on leave and we seem to be at 1/3 Wing strength.... But things
are not a gloomy as they seem: actually we've recovered quite a bit and
we're heading back up to 30 pilots, with all 3 squadrons at 8 to 9 pilots.
Also activity has not been bad considering all things - Especially
LCM Zero Pain, CPT 007 and LCM Ray Lazzak have been flying quite a lot
for example.
As a result, we were
thinking about reopening Wasp Squadron (des: Assassination, craft: 1 flight
of T/D, 2 of MIS), but Hornet or Scorpion would be fine too ofcourse;)
This would clear 1 CMDR and 2 FL positions, which would be easier to fill
ofcourse. We don't want to bleed the existing Squadrons onboard to open
a new squadron too much, so we need to get a few recruits from outside.
If you know anyone who would be interested in joining a new squadron and
putting in the effort, direct them in our way. Ofcourse if you feel you
can be a great addition to this squadron yourself you can go ahead ofcourse.
Currently you can
say the deal is that anyone who can find himself 5 pilots (2 FLs, 3 FMs)
or so can be CMDR of one of our inactive Squadrons. Ofcourse the normal
rules for such a position are in effect, like being in the possession of
a SM/2 and being at least a half good candidate for a CMDR position.;)
Any interested people should contact VA Blade and me and tell us of their
plans.
2.
More activity is
there in the form of our two current competitions. The first active turn
of the Vanguard interactive Battle has come to a close and it's winners,
LT Strahd and CM Fraggle Hawk, have received their medals. Next turn will
start soon, though we still need XWA mission creators badly - if you can
do anything in that area, please report in.
VA Blade has started
off the "VANGUARD RENAISSANCE" competition. By activity, squadrons gain
points - like 15 for a LoC, 2 per mission. Participating members in Winning
squad will each earn ISMs + WC's Own, the Ship's Top Gun will receive a
PC + Commodore's Protector Award. A bit like a ASF:SC at ship scale. Recruiting
is mucho points, so go for it:)
3.
Due to Undernet
dying on us, there is no more X in #Vanguard, you're ofcourse still invited
to go there, our new BGCOM, VitCarp, says he'll hang around there to -
so it's a great place to rub shoulders with the top brass;)

Wing
News:
General Wing News:
- Raptor Squadron has completely been transferred
to the reserves after almost a year of no recorded activity of the pilots.
The original squadron, Wasp, has been reinstated. Wasp is an Assassination
Squadron of two flights of Missile Boats and one of TIE Defenders and is
currently inactive.
- After a surprising line of events, all
of Hornet have requested transfers - leaving that squad empty safe for
LCM Rex. LCM Rex has been transferred to Echo. Hornet is now also inactive.
- ViB results have LT Strahd as our top pilot
with 23645 points and CM Fraggle Hawk as runner up with 17320 points. In
fiction it was the other way around:)
- VA Blade has started off the "VANGUARD
RENAISSANCE" competition. By activity, squadrons gain points - like 15
for a LoC, 2 per mission. Participating members in Winning squad will each
earn ISMs + WC's Own, the Ship's Top Gun will receive a PC + Commodore's
Protector Award.
- LC mBind was forced to go on leave for
the past time because of RL problems, but has obviously returned.
- Please Welcome LT Kadath L'Hoon to Echo
Squadron and LT Alpha964Bravo to Mantis. Show them around the ship a bit
and make sure they have a good time here:)
- CPT CTXclr was forced to transfer to the
reserves. I hope he'll be back some day.
- CM Fraggle Hawk - Python CMDR - is
on leave because of RL trouble. He might even be resigning:( Untill any
clarity comes up in this case I appoint CM Mareek as Acting CMDR (he had
a very short stint as Hornet CMDR this month after all ;)). Any missions
you need to process you can send to me.
- MAJ Archon - Echo CMDR - is on leave because
of RL work/study as well. He'll be back - until that time he has appointed
LC DS-61-4 as Acting CMDR. Any missions you need to process you can send
to me.

MAJ Archon is on leave. LC DS-61-4 is the Acting CMDR till he returns.
Due to computer failure, DS-61-4 will probably not be COM's Protector much
longer, but he would love to see one of Echo's pilots take that position
from him. LCM Zero Pain has been flying quite a bit, perhaps it'll be him?:)

Things have been coming alive in Mantis. Two new citations, among others
thanx to CPT 007 and LCM Ray Lazzak flying quite a lot. And the new FM,
LT Strahd got himself 2 Melee victories. LC Garik thinks Mantis stands
a good chance in winning the Vanguard Renaissance Competition... and he
might be very right.

As you might have noticed: Hawkie is on leave due to RL reasons. Hence
not much of a report. Mareek's appearance in the squadron added another
4 citations though - making the squad go from 0 to 10 citations in just
over a month: very good work by all of you. I hope the problem with Hawkie
resolves itself soon.
