Good little Imperials...
by SA GN Compton

Well, just because I'm not the guy who has the thankless task of putting the NLs together every month anymore doesn't mean that you've heard the last from me.  Life as a Flight Member is everything I hoped it would be.  I'm in an active Squadron enjoying the repartee and in-jokes therein, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the next Squadron League battle, I'm getting about 100 fewer e-mails a day and I'm getting about 34% less grey hairs every week.  I can't tell you how happy I am to be bugging someone else about when the NL is coming out again.

So why do I still have a column in the NL?

Ego.  Pure, unfettered ego.  :-P  Seriously though, just 'cause I'm not XO anymore doesn't mean I can't spout off about what's on my mind. One thing that's recently come to my attention is that the ISD Colossus is in trouble once again.  You might remember that the ol' Colossus was in dire straits a while back, and I pulled double duty as XO and Commander of Pi Squadron to keep Pi open during a downsizing abaord the Col.  Well, my presence has been credited with helping to revitalize that ship for a while.  (Personally, I think it was the excellent leadership of Com Ari and WC Theo that did it.)  Once I got Pi back on its feet, I left the Colossus.  And now I hear that they're thinking about shutting down the Colossus.  This hurts.  I started out as a Flight Member in Pi aboard the Col, so the ship has always had a place in my heart.  People who know me know this.  Heck, that's why I went back and played CMDR for a while (oh, and might I add that I even led Pi to defeating Praetorian Squadron when they challenged us).  I've even had someone ask me if I'd be interested in returned to the Colossus again to help things out.  Well, I can't.  I really wish I had the time for it, but I just can't do it.  Besides, folks tell me that things rapidly fell apart in Pi after I left the last time, so I obviously didn't get folks trained to the point where they could continue what I started.  So what would happen if I went back to the Col and then had to leave again?  No, it's not something that I can do.

But if you're aboard the Colossus, it's something that YOU can do.

The best thing that can be done to save the Colossus is to be active.  Fly EH Battles.  Submit your INPR to the NL.  Post on the message boards.  Make the Colossus a fun place to be again, and let people know how much fun it is.  If the pilots abaord the Col were to do these things, it would thrive again.  Not only that, but doing those things are also the easiest ways to get individuals known and earn medals and promotions.  So you Col pilots, you'd not only be helping your ship, but you'd be helping yourselves.

Do it for your ship.

Do it for yourself.

Do it for the glory of the Empire.

Until next time, I happily remain...
