The Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition was a tremendous success, and we hope you enjoyed seeing it on the big screen again -- or for the first time!
As many of you know, George Lucas has begun work on a new trilogy of "prequel" movies to precede the story told in the original Star Wars Trilogy. While no deals have been completed, we are now in discussions
with a number of actors and actresses -- including Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, and Ewan McGregor -- to fill roles in the first movie of the new trilogy. In the coming weeks, you can expect to learn more about the
prequel production by visiting http://www.starwars.com/ We hope you share our excitement about this new chapter in the Star Wars saga!

Master Book Trader Paula's Reminders of Upcoming Star Wars Books
"Betcha got real excited there for a second thinking there was actually something new in the SW book world.
Well...one thing and it's not much at that:
Sci Fi Universe (May, 1997) They have a one-page article on the SWSE Premiere with some pictures you've seen before and snide remarks about the SWSE. (They're not too happy with it, in case you haven't figured it out.) But if you also like Trek and B5, there's some really good articles on them.
So, now is the time to catch up on all those books you couldn't afford to buy when the SWSE came out.
Next up on the hit parade will be AC Crispin's The Paradise Snare (the first book of the new Han Solo Trilogy) due sometime in May.
The Nightmare Machine Galaxy of Fear #4 is coming out in May
June
Jedi Academy Omnibus A six-cassette audiobook collection of the Jedi Academy Trilogy, performed by Anthony Heald, will be on sale in June.
The Star Wars Diplomatic Corps Entrance Exam Tests your SW trivia IQ.
July
Ghost of the Jedi Galaxy of Fear #5 is coming out in July.
September
The Hutt Gambit (AC Crispin)The second book of the Han Solo Trilogy is due out in September.
November
Specter of the Past (Timothy Zahn) Hear the SW book fans rejoicing? Mr. Zahn is honoring us with the first of two new, long-awaited books. The first one is due out in November. The second one won't be for another year!
This Fall
Star Wars: The Magic of Myth The companion volume to the Star Wars Exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution.
Star Wars: The Annotated Scripts This apparently takes the scripts and ads a further in-depth look at the entire creative process from story development through the Special Edition.

"Hello My Friends! There are more news from Mexico.
Pepsico has started all their promotions since last week:
Pepsi beverages has a picture of Darth Vader, the X-Wing and the SW trilogy SE logo in Spanish. Each bottle cap has Vader mask and it will be a special promotions for PepsiCards (Trading Cards) and glasses. Sabritas (Frito Lay) will release tomorrow a collection of 50 caps with photos of characters and vehicles of the whole trilogy. KFC has 2 different toys per movie, a poster with Vader in Spanish, 3 plastic glasses with R2, 3PO or Stormtrooper or a big bowl in English. Pizza Hut has 4 toys, a poster with Yoda in Spanish and 4 plastic glasses (the same that KFC plus the SW trilogy SE). Toys are very similar to Taco Bell's in USA. Gamesa and Sonric's (food divisions) will begin until next week. Sonric's stamp album will be the same of Panini/Fleer SkyBox Inc. in USA but in Spanish and with an extra page.
TRADE!
Many members of the SW Fan Club Mexico wants to trade or buy complete sets of toys from Taco Bell. If you are interested in some toys or promotions, E-mail us. The Spirit of Ben Kenobi, Han Stormtrooper and SW Monopoly will NOT come to Mexico, so we also want some of them to buy of for a fair trade.
We have in TV commercials: Pepsi (the original of USA in Spanish), 1 of Sabritas (Mexico), 2 of KFC (Mexico), 1 of Pizza Hut (USA), 2 of SWSE (FOX Mexico) and 1 of ESBSE (FOX Mexico). Soon 1 of
Sonrics, 2 of Hasbro and 1 of Pepsi (Mexico).
We were invited to the ESB SE premier last April 3 and 6. We'd like to receive your opinion (in case you've seen it in your country) of SWSE or ESBSE for include them at the Alderaan Journal, our newsletter. NOT FOR ROTJ JET! We'll see it on premier until April 17th.
Finally, we announce our First National SW con in Mexico from May 15 to 17. We're working with all licenses in Mexico and we hope to invite some personalities for conferences and a VideoConference from Skywalker Ranch in exclusive.
Stay on target!"

Just a quick note to say I found Yoda Stories at my local Babbages computer store. It's only $22, and I have to say, well worth the $22. It's not a flight sim like so many of the other SW PC games. This one is a desktop adventure. You play Luke and wander around from world to world trying to figure out little on screen puzzles by moving rocks, using the force, and shooting imperial probe droids and such.
If you'd like to see more of my review of the game, you can take a look at my Earthforce web site. Though it's a Babylon 5 site, it's got an area called "Hyperspatial News Net" where fellow Star Lady, Taminar, has a column on SW collectibles. I'll be putting my review of Yoda Stories up there Sunday. I'll try and throw up a couple of screen grabs too just to give you an idea what it looks like.
The site is at

Star Wars Special Edition Hits the UK!
From: Robert.Dimbleby
Dear Jessa:
"You asked for a report on the nights activities... well I am afraid to say that it was a very stayed affair... no cheering or whooping with excitement. This I would have expected of people at the showings later on in the week but not on the first night !!! Well my friends and I did our best to get into the true spirit and we certainly enjoyed ourselves. The most that anybody else did was to laugh at the appropriate point. I was disappointed with the audience considering what I had read about how American audiences and their reactions to the films ! Oh well true British stiff upper lip and all that ! If only I had had enough money to get to the USA for the premiers to enjoy a proper atmosphere ! Sorry I can't give you a better review, but needless to say it was an excellent film well worth the 2 year wait."
Thanks for the review, Robert!

The Jedi Bookshelf
"We have some action in the Star Wars Galaxy this week, folks. All magazines...
American Cinematographer (April, 1997) Features an interesting look at how the digital effects from the SWSE will be built upon to do the prequels. Takes a look at the possibilities for scenery and creatures and how George might go about filming now that he has these options. Located this one at both Barnes & Nobel as well as The Newsstand.
Cinescape (May/June, 1997) The Summer Movie Preview contains a look at how the digital effects were just research for the prequels. Also gives a full break-down of all the other cool movies due out this summer. You can find this magazine at most of the major booksellers.
Combo (#28, May 1997) This magazine is devoted to comics and non-sports trading cards. Found this at The Newsstand. Features an interview with Kevin J. Anderson who wrote several Star Wars books (the Jedi Academy Trilogy and the Young Jedi Knights series among countless others). The article focuses a lot on his work with the Star Wars comics. Apparently, the last issue (#27) featured an article on the SWSE. Missed it!
Dusting off the Bookshelf
Since life has been so quiet in the new books category, several people suggested that I review some of the "classic" Star Wars books. So...let's start at the beginning, shall we?
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (George Lucas, ISBN: 0-345-26061-9-150, Ballantine Books) The first edition was printed in December, 1976. The very first paperback of ANH featured no picture inserts (bummer) but has a great cover done by Ralph McQuarrie. Darth overshadows Luke, standing poised with his lightsaber. Standing behind him are definite pre-shooting versions of 3PO, R2 and Chewie. The back features a really cool quote, "Soon to be a spectacular motion picture! from twentieth-century Fox!" Little did they know, huh?
The cover colors are very dark. If you spot this one, snatch it up. The rate quoted by Steve Sansweet is $15-$30, but with the Special Editions, I'm sure you'll find that rate up a bit. This version of the book came out only in paperback, so it'll be harder to find one in good condition.
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (George Lucas, ISBN: 0-345-26079-1, Ballantine Books) Starting with the second printing, this book turned into the gold-colored book we're most familiar with. This is the one with the insert of pictures from the movie. (How many of us can remember memorizing every detail of those pictures?) This one is in more bountiful supply simply because of the sheer numbers they had to create to keep up with demand. However, finding the "second edition" printed in June of 1977 is a challenge. The price quoted by Steve Sansweet (pre SWSE) was $10-$18. Add for inflation and renewed interest.
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (George Lucas, ISBN: unk, Ballantine Books) This hardcover was printed in October of 1977. It has a gold dust jacket and black binding. As you can tell from the lack of ISBN, I have been unable to locate this one. It's certainly rare. Going pre-SWSE rate is $25-$55. This is a prize if you can find it!
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (George Lucas, ISBN: Can't Find It on This Thing!, Book Club Edition) Another interesting version to try to find is the Book Club Edition of Star Wars. Printed in 1976 with a blue dustjacket and grey binding, this one is hard to find because (let's face it) Book Club Editions don't tend to hold up very well over time. Pre-SWSE price: $7-$15.
I won't even go into detail on the many other incantations of this one novel. I'll list them out for you:
Classic Star Wars: A New Hope (Del Rey Books, ISBN: 0-345-34146-5)
Star Wars (Ballantine Books Hardcover Edition, September, 1995, ISBN: 0-345-40077-1) The hardcover with the half-face of Darth Vader on the cover.
Special Edition: Star Wars A New Hope (Del Rey, December, 1996, ISBN: 0-345-34146-5) Features the gold ingot cover.
With the release of the SWSE, more people are cleaning out their attics hoping to make a quick buck. This might make for more bountiful choices, but also makes for more competition. As always, shop wisely and know your prices. Don't let anyone take advantage of your excitement at finding something rare. Enjoy the hunt!"

I did 2 sets of Star Wars icons in 3D and they are for Macintosh. And I got email from all over the world everyday for request for new characters and ships. 20th Century Fox is using them for the Star Wars Animated Classic on their web site and the 20th Century Fox in German is planning to use them also.
They are for Mac, and there are many PC version out there already, (without giving Mr. credit for the drawing), but we will have found someone who will help us on the PC side, and we have a link for them now.

Star Wars Deity Stephen Sansweet sent this caution about Star Wars Conventions that are billing themselves as "Official 20th Anniversary Cons" or "Star Wars 20th Anniversary Cons:"
"I want to make clear that there are NO official SW conventions anywhere this year, not on either coast and not in the heartland. Some entrepreneurs seem to have confused folks that their "celebrations" of the 20th Anniv of SW were sanctioned. They are not.
LFL knows the fans would love such an official convention, but at this time it doesn't look feasible, much to my personal regret."
(We thank Stephen Sansweet for his considerate, prompt answers, and for his support of the Star Wars Online Fan Club.)

The Jedi Bookshelf
"A few things from across the Big Pond (the UK), this week. Found all of these at Barnes & Noble...
Total Film Magazine (#3/April, 1997) Has a nice, long overview of the Special Edition complete with a centerfold-type foldout of Luke and Leia on the sail barge in ROTJ. Best part of the coverage were sidebar interviews with Peter Mayhew, Jeremy Bulloch and Kenny Baker.
Empire Magazine (April, 1997) For everyone in the UK, it looks like you have the chance to buy three copies as there are three covers (one with Luke, one with 3PO and one with Han). Disappointing inside, though. There is a one-page interview with Mark Hamill where we delve into his psychological background (e-mail me if you want more on this one). And spattered throughout the magazine are little tidbits on SW games and books.
One interesting thing in the book section was Harrison Ford: Imperfect Hero. It's apparently a biography that the reviewer didn't feel was worth the effort. She only gave it two stars. It's put out by Simon & Schuster for 16.99 UK pounds. (Any Harrison fans from the US who already have this one, please e-mail me your thoughts and I'll put it in the next column.)
Starburst Magazine (Special #31) It's a special edition called "Outer Space Special" with R2 and Quark (from Deep Space Nine) on the cover. Features interviews with Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, plus a preview of the Special Editions.
From the US publishers this week...
Wizard Magazine (April, 1997) Contains a short preview of the Star Wars toys shown at the Annual Toy Fair in New York. Looks like we're getting some great new action figures, next year.
Makeup Artist Magazine (April, 1997) Don't ask me where they come up with these magazines. I just report them. Anyway, this one has a picture of Yoda on the cover and an interview with Stuart Freeborn inside. It's a nice look at his career, thus far, with a wee mention of Star Wars.
Coming Soon... The first book of the AC Crispin Han Solo Trilogy. It's supposed to be released in May, so start keeping an eye out.
Dusting off the Book Shelf
If anyone has any old Star Wars books they'd like me to look into, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep walking through my own bookshelf.
Splinter of the Mind's Eye This little jaunt takes us back to just after the events in "A New Hope." Luke agrees to accompany Leia on a diplomatic mission, but they get stranded on a strange planet. They soon end up chasing the Kaiburr crystal (a crystal that would help enhance the Force) with a Force-sensitive and slightly nutty woman they meet on the planet. Of course, R2 and 3PO are along for the ride.
Hardcover Version (Ballantine/Bookclub, ISBN: ?) Published February, 1978. Pre-SWSE price from the Tomart Guide is $10-$20.
Softcover Version (Del Rey, ISBN: 0-345-26062-7) So popular that there were several printings of the First Edition. You want to try for the First Printing, First Edition. Anyway, this one came out in April, 1978. Tomart Price: $4- $8.
Classic Star Wars Edition (Del Rey, ISBN: 0-345-32023-9) This one is still in the bookstores. Sells for $5.99. Nice way to get caught up on the classics.
Dark Horse Comics Edition (Dark Horse, ISBN: 1-56971-223-9) The drawings of Leia are a little doe-eyed, but it's a nice way to read the story quickly without having to plow through the book. On sale at major bookstores and comic stores. $14.95
Enjoy the reading!"

The Jedi Bookshelf
"Surprise, surprise! There are some new things in the Star Wars book world, this week:
The Nightmare Machine by John Whitman (Bantam; June, 1997; ISBN: 0-553-48453-2) Galaxy of Fear #4 has made Barnes and Noble's shelves, this week. In this one, Zak and Tish head to Hologram Fun World and go to the ride called Nightmare Machine. This machine scans your mind to find out your worst nightmares to scare you with, only this machine's nightmares are real. For those not familiar with these books, the Galaxy of Fear series is for young readers in the tradition of Goosebumps. Nice afternoon read for adults.
Film Comment Magazine (May-June, 1997) This film maker's magazine has Sean Connery on the cover. It has two editorials with contrasting views of the Star Wars Trilogy. As you can guess; one hates it, one loves it. The reviews are only about 6 pages of the magazine and have only black and white photos of our heroes. (If you're a Sean Connery fan, though, this one contains a full tribute to his work.)
Dusting off the Bookshelf
Well...no one has written to complain, yet, so I'll keep roaming through my bookshelves.
The Empire Strikes Back
Because the Star Wars Galaxy was pretty well established by the release of this film, there aren't quite as interesting variations on the novelization of these books. However, there are copious ones:
ESB: The Official Novelization by Donald F. Glut (Del Rey; May, 1980; ISBN: 0-345-28392-9) This is the blue background cover with the Rodger Kastel poster art on the front. Unfortunately, no wonderful picture insert to occupy your mind while waiting in line to see the movie again. Pre-SWSE Price $4- $8.
Book Club Edition (1980, No ISBN's on Book Club books)The original hardcover for the novelization. It has the same dust jacket as the paperback version. Pre-SWSE Price $9-$18
The Illustrated Edition (Del Rey; July, 1980; ISBN: 0-345-28831-9) This is the novelization accompanied by line-drawing illustrations from Ralph McQuarrie. The book has the same blue background and ESB logo, but it's larger in size than the standard paperback. The picture on the cover is a McQuarrie painting of Luke on the back of his Taun-taun. Pre-SWSE Price: $5-$10
Classic Star Wars Edition (Del Rey; May, 1980; ISBN: 0-345-32022-0) These were released in late 1995, early 1996. There's a yellow background with the same poster art as the original novelization. It's still available in the bookstores. Price: $5.99
Stormtrooper Hardcover (Ballantine; September, 1995; ISBN: 0-345-40078-X) This is the "collector's edition" hardcover version with the black backgrounds and the half faces. Some of the bookstores might still have these for sale. Different dust jacket, same story. Price: $16.00
Special Edition Novelization (Del Rey; ISBN: 0-345-32022-0) This is the paperback edition released for the SWSE in January, 1997. It carries the SE seal in a pewter-type material on its cover. Still available in the stores. If you order by ISBN, be careful. This has the same ISBN as the yellow "Classic Star Wars" series. Price: $5.99
As always...enjoy the hunt!"

The All-Time, All-Star, Star Wars Trivia Champ Game!
Uncle Owen, founding father and Jedi Master of the Star Wars Online Fan Club agreed to come back from his semi-retirement as Club consultant, and host the Champ Game. His questions were good ones, and they were TOUGH, as they should be for an All Time Champ Game.
After consulting three years worth of Champ Game results, SWOFC officers chose a list of Trivia All Stars, and sent invitations to each. The top four finishers from the day's Trivia Marathon had the honor of playing against the All Stars who could come.
And the Results...
2 points: KPalpatine
4 points: AlexLiu, TotDoneta
5 points: QUEST32681, Yavin IV
6 points: A BoyScout, PXizorBSn1, Usako83
8 points: DButkiller, Kueller
Uncle Owen devised a deviously difficult question to break the tie between Kueller and DButkiller. When all the points were counted, DButkiller won the All Time, All Star Trivia Champ Game, and an autographed copy of Children of the Jedi, by Barbara Hambly! Kueller won a Star Wars Holographic pin for hanging in there all day long, and for his great second place finish.
Meanwhile, on IRC....
W Malagant hosted a SWOFC party in the #SWOnline channel on the Undernet server. Draven, from Poland, won an R2D2 from Taco Bell. Draven says it's his first SW toy! Alex Chow, from Singapore, won a magic cube from Taco Bell.
Late evening, 20th Anniversary....
For those still up and online, JessaDoc and the officers of the SWOFC hosted a 20th Anniversary Late Night Celebration in the AOL Cantina. Fan Club members attending won Special Edition posters, Trade paperbacks, Special SW CCG cards, Cantina band figures, Ghosts of Obi, and Galoob Action Fleet vehicles.
Thanks, all officers of the SWOFC, for your hard work making the 20th anniversary celebration a success for Star Wars fans! -Jessa

Star Wars: Special Edition Arrives in Malaysia!
From: yasmin@pl.jaring.my (Yasmin)
(Thanks for the great article, Yasmin. The Club congratulates you for pointing out the error of Darth Vader's lightsaber color. Can't let those theater owners get complacent!)
"At long last, ANH:SE finally arrived here in Malaysia! I went to the charity premiere, not knowing quite what to expect, but ended up still feeling high on the adrenaline surge. I nearly missed it, but a friend (thank you Esther!) proved to be a lifesaver.
I grew up watching Star Wars on TV, but never really took much exception to it until one day, when I sat up and realized: wow, there's something more to this. The reality and excitement of finally seeing it on the big screen didn't manifest itself until I finally sat down in the cinema and said to myself, "I'm watching Star Wars in a cinema!". I can't believe I would feel this heady watching SE even after dozens of times watching ANH on video.
There were quite a crowd that night. Most were young ones simply watching it for the novelty, but I saw an older couple sitting just a few seats away from me. I can't help but wonder if they were reliving their first experience seeing it. Were they as excited as I was? I sincerely hope so. The sponsors of the charity premiere (KFC) actually employed someone to dress up as Darth Vader! Unfortunately, the color of his lightsaber was wrong. And yes, I couldn't restrain myself from saying out loud, "Darth Vader's lightsaber is red, not green!" :)
The actual experience watching it was indescribable. The whole thing was so... huge and majestic. Several of the audience gasped and even screamed at certain parts of the movie, most notably when Darth Vader made his appearance. When Luke flew his X-Wing into the trench, it's almost as if I was there right along with him. I love the new editions, except for the Jabba one, which I felt was unnecessary. All in all though, it was an experience I could never forget.
Even after the movie ended, it seems that the Force is still with me. I came home to find that my father had bought the SE soundtrack for ANH and ESB.
Qapla'!"

Star Tours at Disney to Get a Face Lift!
Thanks to HoloBrent Lynch for the info!
A Disneyland spokesman said the 10-year-old "Star Tours" attraction in Tomorrowland, in which audiences experience an out-of-control flight through space courtesy of C-3PO and R2D2, will be updated in 1999. The refurbished ride from the Galaxy Far, Far Away reportedly will feature new film footage that will include the long-awaited Star Wars Prequels. The tentative release date for the first of the Prequels is also 1999.
Not only will the interior effects be updated, but the building will get a redesign as well. The increased number of queue lines will meander through a space that will likely also reflect the new movies.
The Jedi Bookshelf....
From Master Trader PRosenb@aol.com
"A few new magazines on the shelves, this week:
Cinefantastique (Vol. 28, No 12; June, 1997) Two SW-related items in this issue. George Lucas was ranked the 3rd most powerful man in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. Plus, there's a not-so-flattering review of the Special Editions.
SFX Magazine (#25, May, 1997) This UK magazine has a great interview with Rick McCallum on the upcoming Prequels, a short interview with Warwick Davis (Wicket from ROTJ) and a very funny expose on how many bags of "crisps" (that's chips for the Americans in the audience) it takes to get a complete set of "Tazos" (North American Translation: Pogs). Ripoff Lookout: this is supposed to come sealed with a small episode guide to Lois & Clark, American Gothic, Sapphire & Steele and Alien Nation, so check the newsstand carefully.
Sci-Fi Universe (July, 1997) Has a picture of Batman on the cover. Their main SW article continues the magazine's poor opinion of the SE's, but there is a cool column called "Harry's Universe Report" that has some rather interesting gossip about the Prequels.
In honor of the actual 20th Anniversary, this week, I thought I'd dust off some books that will put some of the childlike wonder of Star Wars back into your life:
Star Wars Pop-Up Book (Random House; 1978; ISBN: 0-394-83754-1) You know this is going to be good when you open the front cover and the back of the Imperial Destroyer pops out, chasing the Rebel ship above Tatooine. IMHO, the best pop-ups are R2 being sucked up into the Jawa's sandcrawler and Ben turning into a pile of robes after his duel with Vader. Pre-SWSE Price: $10-$20<I>
Empire Strikes Back Pop-Up Book (Random House; 1980; ISBN: Can't find it) Another wonderful creation from Random House. A lot of the pop-up construction is flimsy, so it'll take a bit to find one in good condition. Pre-SWSE Price: $10-$20
Return of the Jedi Pop-Up Book (Random House: 1983; ISBN: 0-394-86016-0) They went more for the pop-ups than the mechanical ones in this book. IMHO, the funniest scene is Han running out of the carbon freeze after Leia frees him. (Don't recall him running in the film.) Pre-SWSE Price: $10-$15.
Be sure to inspect the pop-ups carefully before deciding the final price. You should not be paying full price if they're not all working. Still, a little realism should be used. After 14 to 20 years, they're bound to have a little wear and tear.
Enjoy and Happy Anniversary!"
Master Trader Paula
(Great job, as always, Paula, and thank you for this news piece from Premiere magazine:)
"This is from the Premiere Magazine's May 23rd issue. The article is 'The 100 Most Powerful People in Hollywood.'"
Number 18: George Lucas
Rank Last Year: 99.
Job Title: Ultimate Jedi.
Status Report: Phenomenal Star Wars Special Edition release proved that the Force is still with him. Studios such as Fox and DreamWorks volleying for the deal to distribute Wars prequels, starting in '99, which he will write and finance; he'll also direct the first. His Industrial Light & Magic still dominates special-effects subindustry, but competition is increasing.
Strength: Maker of myths.
Weakness: Hates to shoot; prefers the effects lab.
Yes, It's True: is against rerelease of Close Encounters of the Third Kind on heels of Star Wars.

*Is* the film "The Fifth Element" Really Star Wars for the 90's?
(The promoters of "The Fifth Element" have been using "Star Wars for the 90's" in their ad campaigns. Can this possibly be true, or is this just simple arrogance on their part? -Jessa)
(...by Lala412@aol.com)
"I don't see how it could be in the same class as SW - which led me to try and figure out exactly what it is about SW that makes it so fantastic - I mean, the plot was simple, the acting was not necessarily the best ever - so what is it about that show? Sigh. It just has that epic quality to it... or is it just that it was the first sci-fi show I ever saw? No, that can't be it or everyone else wouldn't love it quite so much.
Anyway, The Fifth Element had good comedy in it and was better than I had expected, but it still doesn't compare to SW. I didn't end up feeling that I wanted to live there, or write fanfic about it, or go see it a million times. But it is definitely not as bad as some of the reviews that it got!!
George Lucas just did a fantastic job of making the story the main thing - the effects, the comedy parts, etc., are in the background, even if the effects *were* breakthrough things that have changed movie-making forever. Also it had better music. The music in this one was too harsh at times - Ian said it would have made a good "Heavy Metal" movie."
(Thanks, Lala!)

Where to stay at the upcoming San Francisco Star Wars Con!
(From Sodus One@aol.com. Many thanks!)
"Here's some info & advice for anyone making hotel reservations for the con in San Francisco in August. August in San Francisco can be cold and foggy, usually is. It is famous for its cold summers. bring a jacket, sweater, pants if you plan on coming.
The Holiday Inn Civic Center isn't bad though not the best area of town. Its on 8th Street, but stay away from 6th Street, that's a bad area. You can also stay in hotels around Union Square which are a short cab ride away, or a long walk.
There are nice hotels up on Van Ness as well, another Holiday Inn, the Cathedral Hill Hotel, Hotel Richelieu which would only be about a $5 cab ride from the con. That area is near the Hard Rock Cafe. Also there are lots of hotels around Fisherman's Wharf that are nice as well.
There is a youth hostel right near Union Square, called, incredibly, the Hostel at Union Square. Make reservations, as they are quite busy in the summer.
If you have any specific questions, email me."

"Foggymyst, in an attempt to raise his lacking High School grades has been offline for quite a while. He would like to say he's back, however he has a new screen name and a loss of memory as to the screen names of his old friends. Foggy's can now be seen as RedToad, so remember its him next time you see him in the Cantina. Foggy has also forgotten the screen names of a majority of his on-line friends and asks that if any of his old SW buddies see this, drop him a line. He'd be happy to hear from you. Remember...Foggymyst = Redtoad. :)"
Thanks!
