FA Khadgar interviews HA Priyum Patel

High Admiral Priyum Patel is currently the War Officer and Predator Commodore, and has served the fleet as Flight Officer.

How do you think the recent Imperial Storm V compares to other Imperial Storms? What can we expect to see the same in the next one? Different?

I think the most recent Imperial Storm compares favourably to the numbers 3 & 4 which were in comparison, a lot more rule intensive. I think I've tried to focus this one more on the pilots and quicker turn-around than previously. It wouldn't be fair to compare this one to the first two since both took places when the EH was a very different place. As for the next one, I'll leave that to the next WO to comment on.

What do you have planned for the War Office after Imperial Storm V?

Nothing.

You're leaving it?

Yeah, I'm planning to quit the EH - I would've done a few weeks ago except Sarin convinced me to stay until the end of the war-game.

What do you think a new FW server and a new version of FW will mean for the EH’s FW community?

A new version will hopefully bring new pilots into the FW community - either those that previously played and left, and those who've never played. However, this will only happen with support from the higher-ups which at times has been difficult to obtain. More often than not, it's a one-man-army. The new server has to an extent already had the same affect - a lot of people have come back to it. FW is usually seen as a secondary platform by some people within the EH, but it has the potential to be a lot more.

What do you think needs to be done by the "higher-ups" in regards to FW?

More publicity, more recognition of the people workin on the EH side of things, more support for integration. Particularly on issues like database modifications allowing rewards for FW pilots. Also, more work with SGs to possibly introduce FW to their sub-groups.

What has appealed to you most about the EH during your service?

Usually working on things that other people enjoy participating in. Being able to sit on IRC and have a laugh with people you get to know over several years is a cool thing also.

What areas do you think the EH needs to pursue in the future?

I think the EH has been under one personality for too long - and suffered as a result. Any creativity or "freshness" factor is stifled eventually, either through apathy or sheer neglect. The EH has been on a gradual decline for the past 2.5-3 years and unfortunately a lot of the people that made up the core talent of the club have left, either because they no longer felt they could work in the club, or because they wanted to. End of the day, the EH should be continually evolving and adapting. As it stands, we're still trying to fix (almost minor) problems that developed long ago and have been left to grow.

After the interview, HA Priyum noted he would continue his involvement with Freeworlds even in his retirement from War Officer.
