Episode III Review - SA Cyric
I first saw Star Wars with my Father in 1977 in a drive in theater. I was Six. So in keeping with the tradition I took my 4 year old son to see Episode III Return of the Sith.
It was a grand expedition into special effects and scenery, however, there will be no Oscars to be had with the acting performances.
In general, the movie and the plot were what I expected. It completed the story line for all six of the movies, and did an adequate job in tying in EP IV A New Hope.
In some respect, the Emperor had some decent views of the Sith way and made some valid points about the Jedi Order, a matter of semantics, however it was interesting how he was portrayed, a maniacal crazy lunatic at times, while others a strong leader---bi-polar if you will.
I found that the acting and the script left a lot to be desired. Acting was un emotional, with Yoda a computer generated character showing more emotion than Padme an oscar nominated actress!
All in all though, taking it for what it was, the saber duels were excellent (could've done more with Grievous) and the space battles left my mouth drooling.
If I had to rank the movies, it would go something like this:
A New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
Phantom Menace
The first three episodes I thought were much better, which tells me that though technology may improve over the years, there's nothing like a good, decent young actor at your side.
