Krath Training: Lesson 1 - ACO Trevor Rastyn and KP Kerridwen Jorddyn
Trevor was sitting in the corner of the Renegade's cantina when Kerridwyn walked in. She stood in the door way, looked around and found Trevor sitting by himself reading over his daily reports. News from the battle front, new information gathered from Courscant about the New Republic's activities, and standard operations reports. T revor sat and sighed as he initialled one report and proceeded to another.
"Pretty boring?" Kerridwyn asked, and Trevor looked up. "Kerri!" Trevor exclaimed and stood up.
"How are you Admiral?" Kerridwyn asked as she wrapped her arms around Trevor's shoulders and gave him a hug. Trevor hugged Kerridwyn in return and rolled his eyes at her comment.
"So you've heard?" Trevor asked.
"About the H.C.I. being disbanded? Everyone has."
"No, about my demotion." Trevor replied with a smirk.
"Oh, well.... Yeah." Kerridwyn stated. "How is the I.W. treating you?"
"Just as I remember it." Trevor replied slowly. "Reports, sitting around waiting for something to happen."
"Well, how would you like a real challenge?" Kerridwyn asked with enthusiasim.
"Like what? Someone who can drink at my pace?" Trevor replied with a grin.
"No, far more challenging than that, Trevor." She said as she sat her lightsaber on the table before Trevor.
"Oh, hell no!" Trevor replied.
"Why not?" Kerridwyn asked in confusion.
"You're a Dark Jedi!" Trevor exclaimed. "You'd pull out that Force stuff and whoop my ass!" Trevor said, while flailing his arms about.
"Trevor I don't want to fight you. I want you to join me." Kerridwyn calmly and coldly said. Trevor froze, and sat motionless in the booth. "Your history as a Royal Guardsman would give you the start you need. You're fit. You're strong, and you will be stronger. I've forseen you..."
"Wait, wait, wait..." Trevor interupted. "Forseen me? Kerri, I have no Force powers. I'm no Jedi.... Dark or otherwise."
"Do you know that for sure, Trev?" She asked. "Have you searched back in your family history?" Trevor sat and thought about his half-brother Kezran's wife, Kailey. Kailey was in fact a Jedi, and her and Kezran's twin daughters, Claire and Julia were already begining to show signs of being Force sensitive.
"I've never really looked deep into it, but I'm sure there's never been a Rastyn that can control the Force."
"Trevor..." Kerridwyn said as she placed her hand on Trevor's wrist. "The was. Many, many generations ago. Long before your great-grandfather's, great-grandfather, but it is in your blood. You're far behind the other Dark Jedi in the Brotherhood, but you can learn. I will help you." Trevor sat back and looked at Kerridwyn with uncertainty.
"Kerri, I got so much work here... I can't..."
"Don't worry about your I.W. duties. They'll be taken care of for you, and you will always be able to return to the I.W. when your training is complete. Come with me Trevor." Trevor sat and looked around the bar and realized that no more than ten mintues ago, he was in fact bored with his day to day routine. He thought about Kerridwyn's offer.
"I dunno...." Trevor said.
"Trevor.." Kerridwyn said as she passed her hand across Trevor's face from across the table. "You will come with me." Trevor paused and looked at Kerridwyn with an arched eyebrow.
"What the hell was that?" He asked.
"Excuse me?" Kerridwyn asked back.
"What's with the hand?"
"You...?" Kerridwyn started. "You're aware what I just did?"
"Yeah, you look rediculous." Trevor replied.
"You've got a stronger mind than I first realized." Kerridwyn stated. "Trevor, please, come with me." Once again, Trevor sat and looked around the bar. Kerridwyn sat and watched Trevor's facial expressions, as he fought with the desicion. Trevor turned back to look at Kerridwyn and a smirk appeared across his face.
"A'right... Let's get outta here."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the shuttle landed with a soft hiss Kerrridwen had to wipe off the small grin that had been living on her face for most of the morning. The newest Novice at House Qel- Droma was about to step out of the shuttle and start up his Jedi career. Novice Trev Rastyn was an old and very special friend to Kerri and she had been looking forward to welcoming him to Clan Arcona.
By the time that the shuttle's ramp locked into place Kerri had her features under control, however she noticed that Trev looked uncomfortable and felt out of place in his white robes of a novice. Once he reached the end of the ramp, Kerri bowed and after an aborted salute, Trev bowed as well. "Welcome to House Qel-Droma of Clan Arcona Trev. I am pleased that you are here." Kerri said as she kept a straight face. Deep down all she wanted to do was give the guy a big hug, take him down to her quarters and start in on some beer. But, she was the new QUA and she better act like it. At least till she made the impression that she needed too. She knew from personal experience that it is always hard to step from one group in which you had commanded into another group in which you knew nothing. The obvious white robes didnt help either, but then Trev didnt have to worry about elder jedi sneaking up behind him to douse him with water. Jorddyn almost lost her composure to smirk at that last memorie. Her master Cooch had always wanted to see her win the wet robe contests back when she was new to the Jedi Order and always went out of the way to make sure she was "entered" weather she wanted to or not!
"Please follow me Novice" Kerri intoned with a small dip of a bow and started to walk deeper into the Qel-Droma complex. The halls that they started to walk down showed signs of recent change. Trev had known that he was just one of a handful of new jedi that was to arrive on this moon. The halls showed the history, awards, and glory of the new jedi of the house as well as the past. A new sprit of adventure was thick enough to smell, almost a type of ozone which could only be described as sharp. "The unique weather on this moon provides the unique smell to the air. I have found that I really enjoy the storms that rage constantly outside these walls." Kerri said in an off hand matter. Trev stopped walking and looked at her with a face that was well schooled however Kerri new that he was surprised. And why not? Everyone who showed up, including her had been impressed by the new smells that the storms provided. Especially with a spacer like Trev who was use to the flat, flash burnt air that was a constant in space ships and instillations. Something must have shown in Kerri's face for Trev started to relax as soon as he saw the slip of her features.
"Very subtle Quasetor, very subtle." Trev remarked with a smile in his eye. Kerri couldn't help but grin. "I am glad you are hear Trev, you are going to be a fantastic addition to the jedi order and I pleased to be working with you again. Much more than pleased actually." Kerri turned abruptly and started to walk towards the large round room with tall windows which served as a meeting room for masters and apprentices. She knew as well as he had that this act was falling apart fast, if his education had been left up to her, she new that the beer would be coming out way to fast to get anything productive done. That would have done Trev a great disservice since Vendetta was coming up and his life would depend on the skills that his master imparted to him.
As they reached the door that lead into the room where KP George was waiting for his apprentice, Kerri turned towards Trev with a stormy expression. "When I asked you to join Qel-Droma and start your walk in the dark side, I was planning to be your master. After many nights of meditating I decided it was better to place you in the hands of KP George. He will be able to teach you with the speed and skill that I yet have not obtained. Once I thought the worst thing that could happen to a mentor was to send your apprentice out to stand the fire that you could no longer stand. To stand the fire with a bright and shinny arrogance of innocences, but latter I found out that there was something even worse. To send your apprentice out knowing that you have not taught enough. You will be placed into a combat situation with less training than most novices and I believe that George is the best person to direct that training. I will always been around to assist and to "gust lecture" so to speak. Have no fear that you will not see me much." Kerri broke out into a grin, hugged Trev, turned around and walked back towards her quarters, leaving Trev in front of the door. Before Kerri was out of sight she turned back around and said "Welcome to Qel-Droma, I am well pleased you have joined us."
