Krath Training: Lesson 1 - PRT Locke Setzer and KP Kerridwen Jorddyn

****DJK Jorddyn finds herself walking into a small circular room. She smiles to herself as she realizes that the tall windows which allow the room to be filled with light make this room ideal for the first lesson for her first apprentice. The master and the apprentice bow to one another in greeting.****

Apprentice welcome. Welcome to Clan Arcona. Welcome to House Qel-Droma. Welcome to your first lesson. If all goes well we will have many such conversations in which I will convey to you information that you will need to know as you travel towards the rank of Dark Jedi Knight. Be warned however, that DJK is just one of the many destinations you will seek out during your time among the brotherhood. Obtaining the rank of DJK may not be the most challenging or even the most rewarding thing you have done, but it will be an experience that you will treasure.

I often wonder what I would be like without the brotherhood. The first thing that usually comes to mind is that my typing skills wouldn’t be anywhere near what they are today. I would not have the experience of counting the hours between GMT and PST nor experience half the world complaining that its too hot and their AC is broken, while the other half of the world complaining that its too cold and the heater wont work. These are just a few of the experiences that I would have missed out on. They might not seem like much, but then I didn’t have to put much effort into obtaining them.

The other side of the spectrum, the things that I have had to work hard to obtain, would be the leadership skills. Leadership might not even be the right word. I guess I could call it the skill of getting people who are volunteers to do something. Gently redirecting the over enthusiastic into something that will be constructive for the whole. There is even the more fundamental skill of sizing up a person and figuring out the ideal match of person and job. Finding that one job which will allow the person shine brighter than ever before.

The moral of these reflections, other than to see if you can stay awake threw lectures that have random asides, is the more you put in the more you get out. In physics language it would be called conservation of energy. In the language of the new apprentice it would be jumping in the deep end. In the language of civilization it would be wisdom. The wisdom that one gains only threw experience.

Enjoy your time in Clan Arcona. Treasure the experiences you will have, both good and bad, for both will serve you well latter in life.

****NOV Locke Setzer listens carefully to his master's words, then takes a bow before beginning to speak****

I thank you for your welcome into this clan and into this house. I look forward to our conversations and learning as much as I can from your teachings. I am eager to take on the path of reaching the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, and will I know that it is not a short nor easy one, I look forward to challenge of achieving it with the help of your guidence.

I find that I must tell you how I came to be in your service. I have been a long time servant of the Imperial navy, and indeed, a long time officer of the TIE Corps of the Emperor's Hammer. My abilities in the Force have not been active during this time, however. Once, long ago, when I was still a young officer in the Imperial Navy, I was surprised to find that I, in fact, had a fraternal twin brother. Having been adopted at a young age, this was quite the surprise for me. He, in addition to being a Imperial pilot like myself, was being taught to use the Dark Side of the Force by a Dark Adept of the Emperor. My brother told me I had talent in it as well, like him, and taught me some basic things. However, after he left abruptly with a new assignment, I began to slowly lose my touch with the Force... until recently. I began to feel the Force again, and went to rogue DJK Coranel for guidence. He lead me to KA George, a pilot, who brought me into the DB and House Qel-Droma, within Clan Arcona. While I am a noted pilot, my desire is to learn and study the ways of the Dark Side, and I find the Order of the Krath most suited for that goal.

I do find that, as most Novices most likely do, I have a few questions. As a beginner student in the Dark Side, I am unaware of where my efforts would best be served, what things I can do to increase my learning. I was also curious of another thing; upon investigating the Shadow Academy, I noticed that there are various courses that are seperated by order. While my intrest and loyalties lie soley to the Order of Krath, I was curious if it was acceptable to take courses from other orders as well.

I look forward to furthering our relationship as master and apprentice, as well as the many experiences that await me here in Clan Arcona.
