After doing some physical exercises and some flight training I was sitting in the pilots lounge again and chatting with some of my fellow pilots.
"Hey Clark what about a little game of cards?".
"Sure, if you`re prepped for losing again". He sat down beside Sev and me and we began to play. Of course we were all cheating but as we all did it, the effect anihilated itself somehow.
Well, just when I was about to out-cheat them the alarm sounded and the call "All pilots get to their vessels! Enemy aproaching!" echoed through the lounge. We got up and ran to our ships as we were all still dressed in flightsuits, as always.
On the way to the hangar I thought about what could have happened but the only thing I knew was that a new encryption technology was about to be installed on all ships sometime around these days. Once inside the cockpit a short briefing appeared on the screen saying that New Republic forces attacked us as the so called EHBL was transferred.
We launched straight into battle and together with my wingman Sevrian I started to attack the NR craft. There were not that much rebel vessels so I felt that it wouldn`t be a big problem for us. After we finished all enemys near our cruiser without casualties, just some Ties flew back damaged, we concentrated on 2 X-Wings which were something like 4 clicks away.
As we were getting nearer at 3 clicks a voice came from my comm saying : "Hey imperial , I once owned a Bantha that was smarter than you!". Of course as I, like all imperial pilots, was well-trained in insulting our enemys I replied immediately: "He must have taught you everything you know." After this deadly reply he was so stunned that he posed no problem to us.
When fighter control announced that the enemy is retreating we returned to the hangar. Although we felt like we did a good job everyone was running around and the atmosphere felt tense and confused when we came back. As we heard later an important part of the new technology had been stolen by a rogue dark jedi (who would believe that?) during the fight, but directly after returning from battle we were not that interested and so went straight back to the lounge, not without paying the refresher a visit of course.
