Casino Imperiale Report - COL Brucmack
Colonel Brucmack reporting.
I approached this mission with unease, since it was my first since being cleared to fly again. However, the whirr of a TIE's engines seemed to awaken my arthritic wrists into action.
It was supposed to be a simple cargo transfer anyway, but partway through we were ambushed by a Rebel strike force. I found that I could still pack a mean punch with a TIE Defender, driving them back quite easily. I also managed to identify an odd Correlian transport, which intel later determined to be manned by rogue dark jedi. I've never held with Jedi of any sort, preferring the more physical forms of combat, but this was an added insult.
Anyway, it turns out some sensitive information was stolen, and being the washed up pilot that I am, I was volunteered as the cheapest labour available for the recapture operation. At least they provided me with a TIE Defender again. The mission went reasonably well, though it was difficult to protect the Assault Transport. They should really invest in training some transport gunners, since the ones they have now wouldn't be able to hit a sleeping bantha on a bright sunny day.
Despite the success of our operation, we apparently didn't recover everything. In any case, it's not my job to decide what to do, just to make sure it gets done. For the next mission I was back in a familiar (i.e. cheap) ship, the Assault Gunboat. I guess they decided the TIE Defenders were better used by younger pilots. Whatever, I still managed to disable the shuttles and defend the Assault Transports. I could speak more of the gunner's skills, but I probably shouldn't in case anyone actually reads these briefings.
Intel squeezed some information out of our captured friends, in a process I'm sure I would hate to know about, but once again I was called to duty. General starfighter support in a TIE Advanced was familiar territory for me. We got suprised by the Rebels again, but it felt great blowing up some nice Rebel property. Before I knew it they were out of ships and it was time to go home.
All things considered, I'm glad to be back in the pilot's seat. Hopefully I'll get some choice assignments soon though... But then, I'm used to getting no respect.
