Vanquish vanished? - MWO Ovidius Naso

The FRG Vanquish, patrolling the outer portions of the Phare system, was recently declared missing in action by EH command. Two weeks ago, while on a routine patrol, a shield failure resulted in the outer hull being punctured by a number of micrometeorites. Damage was limited, with repair teams able to quickly re-establish full atmosphere and structural integrity. The meteorites were analysed by the science officer onboard, at which point a peculiar viral signature was isolated on several of the fragments. The fragments were destroyed, and the laboratories sterilised and isolated.

Reports indicate that it was at this point that several members of the science personnel exhibited peculiar medical symptoms, largely mental related - increased paranoia, suspicion and mistrust, as well as sleeplessness and hallucinations. Within three days the vessel was declared quarantined by the medical officer, with the vessel remaining in the fringes of the system.

Reports from this point become sketchy, with the captain’s logs becoming disjointed and showing clear signs of infection. One week after the initial accident contact with the vessel was lost, with infection figures at 90%, its entry into hyperspace prompting an immediate search. Long sensors were unable to track the vessel’s vector, and the ship was logged as a severe threat, the FMC issuing a quarantine order on the Vanquish.

One week has passed since the last official sighting, though numerous reports have been noted of a frigate limping from hyperspace before re-entering hurriedly - slowly as if manned by a skeleton crew. We can only assume that not all the infected crew have succumbed to death at the hands of their comrades or their symptoms, but the mystery of their disappearance will no doubt occupy public thinking for months to come.
