Fleet continues to expand
Recent reports from the outlying systems of the Emperor’s Hammer have once again begun to increase public support for a renewal of the campaign against the New Republic. The increasingly common hit-and-fade attacks from Rebel forces have recently escalated into full-scale naval actions, with the connotations of these encounters all too clear.
The recently re-commissioned ISD Immortal was involved in the latest of these encounters, facing off against a pair of Rebel frigates intercepted over the agricultural colony on Caris Alpha. Even with a skeleton crew, the Immortal easily dispatched both vessels, capturing a number of senior rebel officers in the process. Interrogation transcripts have revealed the long-term build-up of sizeable Rebel forces, including the 6th Cruiser squadron and the 18th Assault Division.
The military build-up on our borders has not gone unnoticed, with GA Astatine’s first actions upon his appointment including a dramatic increase in the current fleet building plan. The re-commissioning of the Immortal was accompanied by the commencement of construction of another four ISD’s, as well as 22 lighter capital ships, including no less than 12 assault frigates of a heavily modified design. Fighter production figures are set to treble, with CD sources believing the arms sector to be the industry set to “increase near exponentially in value” in the coming years. The recent upsurge in anti-Rebel sentiment has been noticeable, even considering the essential hatred we all possess for the false government of the so-called “New Republic”. In response, recruitment figures for the Imperial Navy in the last 6 months have doubled, further fuelling the building plan and production figures of the arms industry.
With public support, and the majority of the senate calling for a more aggressive policy, it seems Astatine will have little choice but to reopen full hostilities following the recent months of uneasy peace - a time of increased but cautious growth for the EH. It is this reporter’s hope that within the next few months we can at last show the Rebels that the names of the Galactic Empire and the Emperor’s Hammer are still ones to be feared, and the Imperial Navy a force to be reckoned with!
