Playing over the MS Zone

Again, we'll look at X-Wing Alliance as an example. You'll have to go back to the MS Zone page for XWA at http://zone.msn.com/xwingalliance/. Select a room you want to play in (for XWA, I suggest the skirmish room as every other is dead). You'll probably have to put in your MS Zone name and password again (if you use cookies, they'll already be entered...you just have to click OKAY).

A window will open with a large section with circles in it, a right-hand box with names in, and a chat box at the bottom of the screen. It's all very self-explanatory. The boxes that are filled are games that you can join. Click on a box to join a game. If the game is full with the required number of players, you will be lock out.

In the game window there will be a small chat box. Here you can say hello to your opponent and tell him when your ready to start playing.

This information will be enough to get you started, but there are help files on the Zone website if you need more information.

Playing WoW games

Usually, WoW games are stated in the title of the game. Also, they only take place in certain game rooms. For example, in the XWA room, the WoW games only take place in the games 30 and up. Check the rules to see where the WoW games are for your platform.

So when you find a WoW game, click on it's box to play. It will ask you to put in a password. All passwords for WoW games are "wow". Simple as that. It's just there to stop newbies joining by accident.

If you are hosting a WoW game, remember that you too must name the game WoW in the title, and give it the password "wow".
