ISD Grey Wolf Report #8 - 04.26.03



Pilot's Lounge

Khadgar quickly put his TIE into a downward path.
He spotted an X-Wing, heading straight towards him.
Arm lasers.
Link lasers.
Laser re-charge rate up a notch.
The X-Wing quickly came closer into range.
Soon, Khadgar's target grid lit up green, and he let loose all the firepower he could.
The X-Wing soon vaporized, and Khadgar turned his craft 90 degrees to the right and headed towards the most important target.
"Dreadnaught's hull is in critical condition. Fire at will."
Khadgar armed missiles and fired them straight into the Dreadnaught's hull.
Direct hit.
The Dreadnaught went up in a huge expolsion.
Suddenly, a warning sounded.
"Mission critical craft under attack."
Turning sharply, Khadgar noted that a mission critical shuttle was suddenly under attack.
He set throttle to full, but it was too late.
"Mission critical craft destroyed. Abort mission, mission a failure."
The simulators upper portion lifted above Khadgar's head, and the screen went blank.
"Still can't get it?" a pilot remarked.
"I think I'll give it another shot," Khadgar replied.
He sat down once again in the chair, the simulator closing and the screen lighting up.
"Greetings, Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Squadron League to defend the frontier against pirates and the Rebel Armada..."

A top news item this week: The Zone has apparently decided to remove the rooms for some of our favorite games.
No, not Backgammon!
X-Wing vs TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance, to be specific.
Since these games are highly acclaimed, and still the focus of many events, including numerous events in the EH - naturally they feel that it is fitting to remove them.
On that note, the popular petition directed at the proprietors of the Zone is at http://www.petitiononline.com/xwa/petition.html
So, go, write a coherent sentence or two, sign your name, and hope for the best!

News

- The Resurgence Competition is still on! It ends May 2nd, and rewards Multiplayer pilots. Still five points per win, three per loss.
- The Grey Wolf Run-on just finished off. All posts will be read, and top posts determined for Iron Stars.
- Our BGCOM was good enough to point out a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/xwa/petition.html to attempt to save the XWA and XvT Zone rooms.
- Congratulations this week to MAJ Phantom, the new Wing XIV Wing Commander!
- The Combat Operations Office announced two new competitions. The Sovereign Ace Competition, to be held Tuesdays, and Zone Sunday, held every fourth Sunday, except on the second Sunday of the month, along with the third Sunday of the month in odd numbered years. Err... Never mind that, it's every Sunday. :P
