New TC Homepage Standards

FA Priyum and I have devised new standards for all TIE Corps homepages in an attempt to raise the quality of TC sites. All sites are expected to comply with the standards within 2 weeks (by February 9). Officers whose sites do not comply within the allotted time face removal from their current position.

Internet Issues

There is currently a worm doing the rounds at the moment, which is impacting the performance of the internet around the world. The worm is designed to target known flaws in SQL Server, a database application produced by Microsoft. However, the worm scans so aggressively that it can actually affect the performance of your own internet experience. Those of you on broadband will probably be very likely targets and should look at blocking port 1434 on the UDP protocol if you have firewall functionality that supports specific settings. Otherwise, a general firewall such as McAfee Firewall or ZoneAlarm should do the trick. Those who do actually run SQL Server or MSDE (a desktop version of the server) should check they are patched as this is an exploit that has been known since July 2002.

A change in policy

Due to the amount of harassment I am getting on IRC from certain parties, I will no longer be conducting EH business over IRC. I am there to relax. If you contact me on IRC about EH business, I will ignore you. I will only be conducting EH business via email from now on.

Ship News

I have assumed Command of the Relentless and this first week I will be getting to know you all. Even though I have served with some of you before. I also want everyone to know that I have an open door policy and if you need me I will usually be on IRC or if you don't use IRC I do have a fast turnaround time on e-mails. First Priority is Recruitment The Relentless is dangerously low on personell and this needs to be our main priority. So I will propose this you get 2 recruitments to the Ship and I'll Award an ISM per every 2 recruitments. Also I'd like to know what you guys think should be looked into as possible ways to make this ship more fun for you. All Ideas are welcome. There will be a comp running soon to decide my Honor Guard. This Force will be comprised of 4 pilots all of great skill in SP and MP flying.

I will be reviewing the ships SO's “Standing Orders” and I'll make my changes and submit them to the BGCOM and FO for their approval. ALL current SO's remain in effect until then. But here is an addition:

On a lighter note the Duck of Wing IX was seen trying to clean tar off his T/A DoomBringer anyone with any information on this crime please contact Security. There have also been reports of weird noises coming from the COM's Quarters this statement was released this morning: The loud noises being heard overnight were in fact construction droids making the new COM's bar and office intergrated into one room.
