New TC Homepage Standards

FA Priyum and I have devised new standards for all TIE Corps homepages in an attempt to raise the quality of TC sites. All sites are expected to comply with the standards within 2 weeks (by February 9). Officers whose sites do not comply within the allotted time face removal from their current position.

Internet Issues

There is currently a worm doing the rounds at the moment, which is impacting the performance of the internet around the world. The worm is designed to target known flaws in SQL Server, a database application produced by Microsoft. However, the worm scans so aggressively that it can actually affect the performance of your own internet experience. Those of you on broadband will probably be very likely targets and should look at blocking port 1434 on the UDP protocol if you have firewall functionality that supports specific settings. Otherwise, a general firewall such as McAfee Firewall or ZoneAlarm should do the trick. Those who do actually run SQL Server or MSDE (a desktop version of the server) should check they are patched as this is an exploit that has been known since July 2002.

Wing News

-The biggets news is that Auto is leaving us. After serving as one of the best WC's the Immortal's ever had, he has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and is now the Commodore of the ISD Relentless. We wish him luck in his new position.

-This means the position of WC is now open. For the next 24 hours, I will be accepting applications from anyone from the Immortal who would like to apply. If I haven't chosen one by then, I will open it up to the TC for applications. However, I believe there are several pilots currently on the Immortal who could step up to the job.

-With this in mind, this will mean that in all likelyhood there will be some shifting around of the Immortal's squadrons. However, it will result in better increase in activity when we are done with our "roster rigomaroles".

-Everyone is to fly XWA-Free 32 (attached) and have it in to me no later than the 2nd of February. *glances at the Squadron CMDR's to set an example*

-Welcome back MAJ Bobxavi from his short stay in the Reserves. He moves into the FM position in Demon Squadron.

Ship News

-Pieces of wood were seen in the hallway outside of Arso's quarters. While investigating this, Security heard loud, screaming sounds coming from inside his quarters. After Arso denied them permission to enter, he claimed that he was working on a Top Secret project for the COM.

-MAJ Mosh's gundark was recaptured last night after escaping once again from his cage. During his "Spree of Destruction", he ate the following items:

• MAJ Mosh's sock drawer
• 2 of CM VinDoro's dresses (don't ask :p)
• 6 datapads from level 4a
• this week's list of personel assigned to "washing the bridge window's duty"
• 97 books from the library (that's okay, no one here reads anyway)
• the front landing gear from Gutt's Skipray Blastboat

-Our paper supply usage has continued to increase this last week. Therefore, the following rules that were implemented have been adjusted slightly.

• You will be assigned 1 paper plate a week. If you throw it away, you must eat from your hands.
• Only 1 paper towels will be assigned to each personel for the week. If you are caught stealing any extra, you will have to wash the bridge's windows from the outside.
• All toilet paper is hereby withdrawn from the bathrooms.
• Each squadron will be assigned a TPO (Toilet Paper Officer). When going to the bathroom, he will assign you a maximum of 5 sheets to be used. Afterword, these must be cleaned and returned to the TPO in reasonably clean condition.

If these our paper product usage is not lowered, then those numbers will be lowered to make up the difference.

Competitions

-A new comp has been set up with Wing XVIII. You have until 02/04/03 to fly XWA-Free 32 and have your .plt files zipped and sent in to me. So far participation has been a little low. I expect to see more of these soon, and I expect our squadron cmdr's to be setting an example in getting this mission flown soon.

-Demon vs Yod is underway. Everyone wish them good luck!!
