ISD Relentless
Report #6
18.07.2002 - VA Krax Tarnisar

Welcome to the sixth Relentless report!

We’ve welcomed some new faces on board since the last report, and said goodbye to some old ones. RL issues have called some of our best pilots to the Reserves, and we wait eagerly for the day when we can welcome them back to our ranks.

First off, I’d like to acknowledge a recent accomplishment by one of our long-term members. MAJ Shae Kitane was recently awarded the Gold Star of the Empire. While this medal may adorn the uniforms of many flag officers, it is seldom seen on a Flight Member. Shae has earned this medal many times over, and the struggle it took to get her some recognition was well worth it. But this is not just about her. While she is the most outstanding of our FMs, her medal is in some small way recognition of the efforts of all our fine Flight Members and Flight Leaders. Those unsung heroes who fly in every competition and do their best to set new high scores every time they fly. It’s also for those who just fly…not caring about the high scores or anything else. If it weren’t for them, this club wouldn’t exist. The first round’s on me, Shae. And if you pawn that Gold Star, I’ll have to hurt you.

NEWS IN THE FLEET: Rumors continue to swirl about some sort of impending Battlegroups competition. It may be like the old Highlander competition, or it may take another form. There’s also a “History of the Battlegroups” competition that has me very interested. This is OUR chance to document the ‘history’ of the Relentless. The XWA battle only tells half the story. I plan to work out a plot line for a “History of the Relentless Part II” battle, and anyone who’s interested in XWA mission creation is welcome to help out. When this one becomes official, it will be an Alpha One competition. That means if you don’t take part without a good reason, you can be AWOLed on the spot.

Other than that, the Immortal cleaned up in the recent Battlegroups awards. Other ships are flying missions at a high rate, and we need to start doing the same.

NEWS FROM THE COMMAND DECK: Our Relentless Drinking Song competition continues, although I’ve yet to see a single submission. This is an easy way to get a pretty medal, and a great way to make a contribution to the history of the Relentless. Our own COL Malaktos is planning to do an original score for the song, so let’s see some lyrics.

It seems that the high score bar for the Commodore’s Guard mission is a shade too high. I’m lowering it to 5000 points and giving everyone until the end of the month to fly it. If you’re currently a Guard member, you only need to fly the mission. I’m still figuring out that tangled mess that is XWA scoring…

Our hard-working WC, MAJ Zadash, continues to guard the June WCO results as if they were his firstborn. A search team has been sent out to comb his quarters, but fled in horror at what they found when the doors hissed open. I’m considering sending LCM Bespin and FiFi in to do some checking.

In addition to doing all sorts of COM-type stuff (lobbying for medals, keeping my posh chair warm, and working on some projects that should prove interesting in the weeks ahead), I’ve been flying some XWA missions and dreaming up all sorts of pesky things that I can write long reports about. And I’m going to keep bugging you all about recruiting. Give LCM Bespin your full support, and work with him to bring new people to the Relentless family. We’ve got a lot to offer here, more than some of those overcrowded ships and Wings. I expect every Squadron to be as active as CM Falcon of Sword has been. Even if your Squadron doesn’t need any new people (and I can’t think of a single Squadron on board that’s in that situation), help out one of the others.

RANT FROM THE RANKS: Sadly, there was no rant from the ranks this time around. You got something you want to bitch and moan about? Send it to da COM and I’ll put it in the report. Don’t send me things, and I’ll start foaming at the mouth in this section. You DON’T want to see that happen.

Not much else to say this time around. I’m on RL leave, and enjoying every minute of it.

Up the irons!
