Hello there everyone! : ) Sorry my reports a bit late - my excuse is that I was waiting for one of our squad members to send me a short piece of fiction. However, it never arrived, so I've been writing a bit myself :o(

Snail’s Log

It felt good to be back in a Gunboat. Although the MIS I'd been assigned to for a short time during my Flight 2 Leadership had not been as awful as I had anticipated (and had actually made quite a nice change), I was definitely more suited to the older of the ships.

I started my engines, and as the docking bay doors opened, I slowly shifted the throttle forward. The bomber emerged into open space. A second later, my wingman, Lieutenant Urza appeared next to me. Our mission was nothing fancy; just a simple patrol around the Grey Wolf as she prepared for her next hyperspace jump. I slowly rolled my ship around, so that I was upside down in relation to the ISD, and then sharply thrust the control stick forward, causing me to head straight towards the mother ship. Just before my craft inserted itself a hundred or so metres into her, I broke off my course and soured along her hull towards the warhead launcher at the bow.

My earpiece crackled. “Err, Girth, are you crazy?!?!”

“Sure am, Lieutenant. Just re-familiarizing myself with the controls.”

“Well, be careful, it’d be st00pid to end your career like that. If you really wanna go, why not do something fun like rigging the Commodores desk speaker to play XXX-Club 69 tunes over and over again? You could set it up so…”

The young officer was interrupted by another voice; “Commander, this is the Grey Wolf, a small probe droid has just exited hyperspace. From it’s approach vector, it looks as if it was coming from Coruscant.”

“Roger that (phwoar eh? *cough*), I’ll go check it out. Urza, stay near the GW, it could be a decoy.”

Squadron News

Hmm, couldn't think of much this week:

1. The FCHG race started on monday, Wes' Challenge is still on - both good reasons to get flying!

2. LC Wes Janson returned from leave yesterday, so you can start emailing him again saying what a great Commander I am :o)

3. Vortex and Odin CMDRs have been chosen (or nearly chosen). They should be announced shortly.

4. I'm going to be on leave from the 29th July till 5th August or something, so I'll need someone to do the WSR that week. If anyone wants to volunteer, that's fine. If not, I'll just pick on someone }:)

In other news, CPT Leslaw of Tartarus changed his operating system to Windows Millenium. Congratulations on your outstanding achievement! :o)

COMMANDER’S OFFICE

OK, I can see that we're not recruiting, so here's some insentive to do so: I'll give an ISM to anybody who manages to get a new member in the squad by this time next month (plus possibly a few days due to my leave). That should be easy if you bother to try at all. If you recruit more than one person I'll see if I can russle you up something better. We wont get new members just by sitting on our asses all day doing nothing, so please PLEASE PLEASE! go out there and recruit. Squad dissmissed.
