Introduction

With Sequoh on leave for the next week I shall be assuming command of Vav Squadron as A-CMDR. Even with the boss away we still have a lot of work to do and plenty of ways to be active. For a start we have round 3 of the Wing's "War of Squadrons" competition. I have also discovered that many of you have not flown even half of the XWA battles and missions available to fly. We need some more citations so get to work pilots! 

Squadron News

Leave Status
CPT Cal Sinis is back from his leave.
CPT Mayk Wolverine has gone on leave until 30th June.
LC Sequoh Marden and CM Var Zoraan are on leave until 22nd June.
LCM Seth Rommel and CM Lavos still can't fly XWA missions.

Basically that leaves me and Cal able to fly this week.

War of Squadrons
Round 2 is now over and to my knowledge Sequoh, Var and myself took part. While Mayk is now on leave I am unsure if he will taken into account when the scores are averaged.

Round 3 will begin very soon so keep an eye for a mail from our WC about it. I will remind you about it later on the Vav mailing list.

Pilot Files
When sending in pilot files for BSFs please send them to me at werdna_elbee@hotmail.com (that includes cc:ing your pilot files to me for WoS). It's a possibility that I may be becoming CMDR so if you start sending the files to me now then there will be less confusion later.

Battlecry Newsletter Revived

After being asked nicely by the FO I have taken on the job of releasing new issues of the TIE Corps Newsletter "Battlecry" (I held out until I was offered a FOA position...yey me!). If you weren't a member over a year ago then you'd need to know that Battlecry used to be a great newsletter in the past and was an excellent showcase of the TIE Corps talent.

Now that it's coming back you now have a chance to show off your own work. While thenewsletter will always contain great features written by the Battlecry staff, the doors are also open to member submissions. We accept: -

Fiction - just a warning, these stories have to stick fairly close to the SW and EH storyline, so no killing off Luke Skywalker or pulling Princess Leia. That reminds me, nothing sexually or violently explicit will be allowed.

Artwork - this could be anything; banners, cool pictures that were used in a website, artwork made for fun, 3D or 2D pictures and animations, etc, etc. Again, nothing sexually and violently explicit will be allowed. File sizes are a problem too, so try and keep it small.

Articles and Interviews - just like the one's in this magazine. Actually, I would prefer if you informed me about what you are doing first, because I don't want several interviews of the same person in one issue.

Jokes - it would be nice to have a little injection of humour in this newsletter. Try and keep the jokes based on Star Wars. I'm not to bothered about the jokes being clean or not, as the dirty ones are usually funnier, but don't go too far! It could be a joke, a funny top ten list, a poem or adjusted song, a chat session, etc.

Send in your submissions to werdna_elbee@hotmail.com. Try to keep the files as small as you can (without losing too much quality). For documents such as fiction and articles, send it to me as a Word Document (.doc), a plain text document (.txt) or even a web page (.html). For graphics, send it either as a .gif or a .jpg. If you can, please ZIP the files using a program like WinZip (http://www.winzip.com) . If you can't do any of those, send it in anyway and I'll see if I can read it.

IWATS Squadron Management 3

The third version of the IWATS Squadron Management Course is now officially out. As I said in my previous reports, this is more of an update rather than a complete rework. This means that there isn't anything significantly new, but there is more information on things like the Fleet Standing Orders, Database procedures and the new CMDR Tour of Duty rule.

The test is not compulsory for present Squadron Commanders but they are highly encouraged to read through the notes. Pilots that were CMDRs in the past and are applying for a CMDR position at some point in the future, do not have to take SM/3, assuming SM/1 or 2 has already been passed.

Please note that the pass mark for the SM/3 test is 80% and copies of transcripts are not kept, unless you mail me beforehand.

Seems to be a busy day for Flags in the TIE Corps. Congratulations to the following on their appointments:

- Rear Admiral Corran Force promoted to ISD Challenge Commodore
- Colonel Stele Pellaeon promoted to Wing Commander of Wing II
- Major Lohr Zadash promoted to Wing Commander of Wing IX.

Also congratulations to Rear Admiral Darksaber and Rear Admiral Krax Tarnisar, both of whom have been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral for all of their hard work as Commodore.

• Attend IRC as often as possible. Remember that as well as #emperor's_hammer and #tiecorps, there is also #wing_iii to drop into. If you need any help getting on IRC and using mIRC (or whatever) mail me.
• Post on the Message Boards more often. Pay particular attention to the Wing III and Vav MBs! There are loads of the things at http://www.tiecorps.org/mb/ and http://www.ehnet.org/mb/
• Recruit!!!

Activity Reports

As I understand it there has been very little activity this week. I wouldn't mind seeing this changing. Even if you can't fly at the moment you can still take IWATS exams, make stuff for newsletters, post on the message boards and mailing list and all that stuff.
