Vice Admiral Draye C. Maaric (#812)
Name: Draye C. Maaric
Rank: Vice Admiral (VA)
Current Assignment: Special Operations Director (SOD)
Scandoc Transmission Code: usn4983@altavista.com
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Date of Birth: Once each Standard Year...
Place of Birth: Corellia, Corellian System
Marital Status: Single
Family: His father is a loyal employee of the Diktat, a tyrant of a man who currently rules over the Corellian Sector. While Draye has not had the means (or the desire) to contact his father in some time, he does hear his name mentioned in the occasional Corellian broadcast over the HoloNet. Draye can only assume that his mother and younger brother are still alive and well on Corellia.
Social Status: Wealthy
Quote: Yub yub, Commander.
Significant Events of Childhood and Adolescence: Born into a wealthy family with a father who worked in the upper levels of the Corellian government, Draye never found himself lacking in any way...other than contentment. Throughout his life as a young man he was plagued by a sense of being foreverlost...of total uselessness. he tried to change this by joining the Corellian Security Force as soon as he was of age, but he quit the CorSec Acadamy fairly earlier on when he discovered that an even more meaningful and powerful opportunity called upon him.
Significant Events of Adulthood: The turning point of Draye's life occured during a CorSec training exercise just prior to his departure from the Acadamy. While vaping target drones in a low orbit around Corellia in his Z-95 Headhunter Trainer, an immense mass maneuvered itself into Draye's field of vision. The Imperial Star Destroyer 'Colossus' had come in-system to bring a message to the government of the Corellia: that their self-declared isolation could only last so long. Seeing this act as the show of force and power that was meant by the Imperials, Draye left the CorSec Acadamy the next day, piloting a stolen lambda-class shuttle on a parallel course with the 'Colossus.' He caught up with the Star destroyer on the outskirts of the Corellian system, and offered his services to the vessels Captain. Wary of this newcomer, the commanding officer had Draye confined to his temporary quarters until he could consult his superiors. Draye waiting in anticipation for nearly 48 hours before an officer from the personell detachment met him in his quarters. He was told that he would be allowed to enroll in Imperials' fighter corps, with all the privileges extended to other pilots. This is how Cadet Draye C. Maaric came be enlisted in the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet. In doing this, Draye knew that he could never atone to his father for what his father saw as Draye's betrayal.
Alignment and Attitude: While acknowledging that a few corrupt officers within the Empire have made greivous errors in the way they have performed their duties, Draye is an avid supporter of Emperor Palpatine's New Order. Granted, there are a few bits of policy he doesn't agree with, but overall the system would make the galaxy a safer place for everyone, and might even allow Draye to someday return home to his Corellian heritage.
Former Occupations: During his training, Maaric was fortunate enough to meet a rising squadron commander within the TIE Corps, one Captain Gen Es'mith, and upon completing his training, Maaric requested a place within Es'mith's own Aylin Squadron, aboard the prestigious SSSD Sovereign, the Fleet's flagship. Flying with Aylin taught Maaric all of the skills necessary to survive in the dagerous, fast-paced hell that was the life of a fighter jock, which served him well when he was offered a place in an elite squadron: Praetorian. Maaric's career with Prae was, unfortunately, unremarkable. Having learned all he needed to know as a pilot, he felt that it was time for him to take command of his own squadron, and to teach his own pilots. His superiors agreed, and he was given command of Wraith Squadron aboard the Fleet's other super-class ship, the SSD Avenger. Maaric's career as a pilot continued to grow in promise and prestige, until a mission in which a fellow Wraith, and good friend of his, was killed in a skirmish with pirate starfighters. After that event, Maaric's attention turned away from the battlefield and onto the task of administration. Maaric's first appointment outside of piloting was was to assist in the exploration and diplomacy that was necessary to the Emperor's Hammer. He held positions both as an Attache within the Reconnaissance Office, and as a diplomatic viceroy in the Fleet's 'Advanced Guard,' travelling to the Outer Rim to discuss terms with the more violent residents of what had become known as "The Zone." These activities continued until recently when Maaric was offered the opportunity to oversee the activities of the Fleet's Special Operations bureau. As the newest Special Operations Director for the Emperor's Hammer, it is Maaric's duty and responcibility to complete tasks that fall under no one else's jurisdiction. As SpecOps Director, Maaric feels that he can do the most good for the most people.
Hobbies: Archaic weapons, such as projectile firearms and non-vibro blades are of special interest.
Tragedies: Being exiled from his home system of Corellia wasn't exactly a bed of roses, but Maaric is strong enough to not be incapacitated by it.
Phobias and Allergies: Ewok fur. Can't stand the stuff. "Yub yub, Commander!"
Personal View of the Empire and EH: While acknowledging that a few corrupt officers within the Empire have made greivous errors in the way they have performed their duties, Draye is an avid supporter of Emperor Palpatine's New Order. Granted, there are a few bits of policy he doesn't agree with, but overall the system would make the galaxy a safer place for everyone, and might even allow Draye to someday return home to his Corellian heritage.
Reason for enlisting in the EH: An overwelming desire to make a difference in the galaxy as a whole.
Personal Appearance: Draye C. Maaric stands at 6'1", taller than most pilots but still able to operate efficiently without undo trouble. He has a kind face, with blue eyes, dark hair, and a ready smile that seems to invite trust and friendship. While not overly muscular, Draye does pocess a modest degree of physical strength, bolstered by an alomst inexhaustible stamina.
Real Life Information: In "real life" Maaric is known as Robert Myers. He will be entering the United States Navy, as a nuclear technician in the Nuclera Field. He plans to enter officer training through the Naval Acadamy as soon as he is able, with the intent of becoming a commissioned fighter pilot.
