Secure the Phare System

General Background


Following the capture of the Loki Military Complex, the Fleet Commander has ordered
the complete destruction of any opposing Imperial and/or Rebel forces remaining in the
Phare System. Considering the apparent warlord mentality of the remaining Imperial
officers in Phare and their subsequent refusal to accept the Emperor's Hammer as a duly
appointed Fleet of the Emperor, complete and total destruction is warranted.

The first targets will be the remaining Imperial capital ships and fighters at each of the
three primary inhabited planets Ullyr, Frigg and Sif. These will typically include older
corvettes, converted commercial craft (i.e. luxury liners, shuttles, transports, etc.). It is
anticipated that older starfighter classes such as the TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber will be
protecting these ships. In addition, various older hostile corporate and civilian fighter
craft (i.e. Z-95s, T-41s and R-41 Starchasers) can be expected to be present.

Since these Imperials have essentially been isolated from the main supply routes of the
Empire, their ships and technology are not up to current Imperial Naval standards. The
Fleet Commander expects this Combined Arms Battle to represent more of an
"occupation" than hard-pitched battle. However, each TIE Pilot is warned that isolated,
heavily armed pockets of resistance may remain...

EH Mission 1 - The Saraii (Sif)

The Saraii, an ancient and noble race, from which it is suspected that Grand Admiral
Thrawn originated, have few defense resources remaining at their disposal. In orbit above
Sif are several Platforms that serve as waypoints and trading centers for the many
agricultural products produced on Sif. It is anticipated that the these platforms will be
moderately well guarded by the Sif Civilian Defense Forces and Imperial Corvettes and
TIEs. The M/CRV Phantom has identified the CRV Phantasia, and 2 converted
Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) Star Galleons in orbit above Sif.

Your task on this mission (as Psi-1 leader from the ISD Vanguard) is to disable, capture
and then destroy the M/CRV Phantasia and two of the CSA Star Galleons, the Princess
IV
and the Destroyer. Both of the Star Galleons (Space Liners) are commercial
Corporate Sector Authority vessels trying to offload last minute agricultural supplies
from the pimary platform, AG-3. Fighter resistance is expected to be minimal with
primarily older T-Fs, T-Bs, T-Is and Corporate Sector Authority Z-95s present...

Each of the capital ships and an escaping Corellian Transport (Pyrra) and Escort Shuttle
(Kilroy) are to be disabled as well. But be warned, your Missile Gunboat has MUCH
destructive power in its advanced torpedoes...It would be very easy to destroy one of the
goals of this mission...FOLLOWING capture of the crews and cargos of these vessels,
they are to be destroyed as a lesson to the Saraii...

EH Mission 2 - Dangerous Luxuries (Frigg)

Frigg, a hardly known but intriguing luxury aquatic world will be a valuable prize for the
Hammer. Not only will this planet serve as a recreation planet for our troops, but the
"living" nature of this thriving, aquatic world will appeal to many Dark Jedi on Sabbatical.

Currently, only a few TIE squadrons and several aging assault transports protect the
spaceport on Frigg. Your mission as Flight Leader of Sword-3, stationed on the ISD
Relentless
, is to eliminate the Frigg convoy and any Corporate or Frigg Civilian Defense
Force (CDF) units before they leave the system...Also, one of the fleeing transports, Ursa,
must be inspected for the presence of Rebel spies...There will be R-41 Starchasers, T-
41s, Z-95s, shuttles and transports trying to leave the Phare System. These ships are
carrying important Imperial dignitaries and former Imperial military personnel that are
fleeing at the approach of the Emperor's Hammer...They must not be allowed to escape
Phare...This should be an easy prize...

EH Mission 3 - Wookies Enslaved (Ullyr)

It is estimated by the Imperial Survey Corps that approximately 5,000 Imperial military and
Citizens were stranded on Ullyr 5 months ago when most of the System Fleet and the Phare
Governor left. These humans have apparently assembled in small isolated bands
throughout the forested world. Recent Imperial Security Bureau and Scout Corps surveys
have identified the locations of approximately 2,000 of these Imperials. Not only are they
in dire need of emergency relief supplies, some have been captured and are to be
transported by the Wookies to the agricultural FAC in orbit above Ullyr. Consequently,
the Fleet Commander has authorized several rescue teams from the Fleet to intercept the
Tyderian Shuttle Hyrkania and hasten the retrieval of any surviving Imperial Citizens.

In addition, the Fleet Commander has decided that this Wookie presence shall be quelled
and be bonded to once again serve the Empire as befits their non-sentient status. With
the thousands of Imperials bound to enter the system following its conquest by the Hammer,
housing and new construction will be required and the native hardwoods of Ullyr are
prized throughout the Outer Rim.

This mission will center on holding control of the orbits above Ullyr and securing the
rescue of the Imperial Citizens. Several rookie TIE Squadrons from the ISD Relentless
have been temporarily assigned to this planet for training exercises under the tutelage of
pilots from Alpha-1. Your assignment, as the most combat experienced pilot in the area,
is to protect the new recruits until the ISD Relentless returns as well as FAC-2...Its
resources will be of MAJOR benefit to the Fleet. It should be noted that the M/CRV
Phantom
identifed the potential presence of several B-Wing construction facilities
planetside. Consequently, garrison forces assigned to this planet will initially find some
Rebel or Corporate Sector Authority resistance. These are to be dealt with swiftly...No
Wookie B-Wings or CSA Fighters can escape...!

EH Mission 4 - Rescue Scout Survey Team (Thor)

This mission centers on your adequate defense of two Hammer's Fist Assault Transports
and 2 Modular Conveyors ferrying a large Imperial Survey Team from the planet to the
TFC Roxanna waiting in orbit with a Hospital Module attached. Apparently, the Scout
Corps Survey Team met up with a particularly hungry band of Grenfels on Thor (see EH
Systems Manual - Phare System Section). Based on initial reports, one platoon of 40
fully-equipped Snowtroopers standing guard over the Survey Team held off several
hundred of the behemoths before they broke into the Imperial encampments and had an
estimated 375 scientists and Snowtroopers for lunch. The whereabouts of the these
personnel is not known, but they have already been presumed dead, as the Grenfels
captures its prey for only one reason...Food...

As the Assault Transports and Modular Conveyors attempt to dock with the TFC
Roxanna
for medical aid, several Y-Wings and TIE Fighters enter the area. Your job, as
strike leader from the ISD Challenge, will be to keep these transports safe. They must
not be destroyed...!

DB Mission 1 - Haven (Hela)

On Hela, a mercury-like world in the closest orbit to Odin, also contains some of the
richest mining operations in the Phare System. Haven, the massive mining complex
planetside, is run and managed by a conglomeration of small, insignificant corporations
that have banded together to oppose the Emperor's Hammer. In orbit above
Hela is PLT Hela-1, a resupply and equipment storage facility. The capture of this planet and its
supplies intact is one of the most important missions of this CAB.

New TIE Squadrons from the newly commissioned ISD Subjugator have been assigned
this important mission. Your craft will be a TIE Defender in Hunter-1, stationed aboard
the newly commissioned ISD Relentless. The DB Squadrons must overwhelmingly
destroy opposing Rebel fighters and transport ships without losing PLT Hela-1 in orbit
over Njord. The incoming Rebel forces must also be stopped from stealing the supplies
from Hela-1. The ISD Relentless and the DGN Lichtor V will provide capital ship support.

Please note that the A-9 fighter OVL or EXE file (for TIE disk and CD versions,
respectively) should be loaded to accurately represent Tau Squadron when the DGN
Lichtor V arrives...However, this is not required to complete the mission...

WEEKEND RETREAT

I had decided to take a break at a platform that the Emperor had deemed a
recreational platform in the Aurora System. The whole flight group had gone actually.
Everything was great! Every pleasure you could imagine, was at your grasps in an
instant! Now why can't that be the end! Needless to say the locals had accumulated or
hired a force to attack the platform, knowing that it was being used for imperial solders.

MISSION 1

You have been given a tie fighter to ward off the attacking rebels. They have come with a
force of X-wings and Y-wings. The platform must survive.(Tie Fighter)

MISSION 2

The platform is slowly loosing life support. It was hit too hard. There is hope though. We
have spotted a Strike Cruiser not too far from the platform. It seems to be abandoned. We
will want to transfer personnel to the cruiser if it is in good enough condition.(Tie
Bomber)

MISSION 3

We have spotted a Rebel Calamari(Light) on the other side of a near planet. They seem to
have come into some troubles and are conducting repairs. Now is the time to strike! Our
engineers have supped-up a flight of Z-95's for this mission.(Rage fighter)

MISSION 4

We have found a run-down platform where the rebels seem to be operating from. We
had not detected it before because power levels were too low before. Our sensors just
picked up a power surge from the platform. You must destroy the PLT to secure the area!(
Rage fighter)

MISSION 5

The PLT must be repaired! The ISD Challenge has shown up and is sending a shuttles to
deliver the repair crew. The shuttle must reach the PLT safely! We must also make sure
the PLT personnel makes it back to the PLT. After the shuttles and TRNs dock you will
proceed to the Challenger so the Rage fighter can be evaluated (Rage fighter).

NOTE: The flight.ovl encluded (rage.ovl) must be renamed "Flight.ovl" and placed in
your tie directory!

You must copy the flight.ovl provided to your tie directory or if you have
prototype.bat, use the A-9 flight.ovl.

Mission 1
On a routine patrol we ran into an ISD the rebels captured. We must reclaim the ISD!
You will fly a Tie Defender(Tempest squad)

Mission 2
We have found a X-7 Factory with a strike force gathering. We must destroy the
Starships so that there is no threat to the Avenger.
You will fly an A-9(Thunder squad)

Mission 3
We now have the task of capturing the X-7 Factory. You must call for reinforcements
when the Factory's shields are down to have the ATR's come and disable the Factory.
You fly an A-9(Thunder squad).

Mission 4
We are studying the ore from the factory. You must secure the area.
You fly an Interceptor(Typhoon squd).

Mission 5
We are sending shuttle Roe to gather the info. we have aquired about the minerals. The
shuttle must complete its mission and ISD Challenger must make it to hyperspace with the info.!
You fly a Tie Advanced(Cyclone squad)

A New Tour of Duty for TIE Fighter
Missions created by the BullFrog (GN Jeremiah, Tempest SQ, FG3)

Story:

An area of space in that vast unknown between the Frontier and the Rim
worlds has recently seen increasing activity. It had been thought by the
Empire to be un-inhabitable as well as economically useless, but the recent
traffic at a hyperspace point near the sector would suggest otherwise. Your
goal in the upcoming missions is to determine the reason for the sudden
interest in this area of deep space, especially from private and corporate
organizations, and possibly, establish an Imperial presence there. It is
important that you proceed with caution, since Imperial command wishes to
arouse no suspicisions, which could lead to Rebel intervention. Understand,
"silence is the key."

Mission Profiles:

The main mission objectives are available in the briefing. Any secret
or bonus objectives are up to the pilot to discover...

mission 1 - Inspection Duty
- Assault Gunboat (Scout)
- Command has noticed increased activity around a relatively
obscure nav point. Inspect any craft passing through the area
untill instructed to return to base. Watch out for pirates
and mercenaries...

mission 2 - Capture Operation
- Assault Gunboat (Scout)
- From the information gathered in the earlier mission, HQ has
grown interested in this sector. Disable a fuel depot currently
supplying ships in the area so that an assault transport from
Savage may capture its' crew for interrogation. Let no ships
escape...

mission 3 - Assault on the LION
- TIE Fighter (Delta)
- In this mission we destroy the flagship and fighter cover of the
syndicate controling this sector. You have been assigned to MCRV
DeepSpace to exact this end as commander of DELTA squadron...

mission 4 - Patrol Duty
- TIE Fighter (Delta)
- The recent engagement with the LION has left DeepSpace in need of
repairs and with little fighter cover. Currently, DeepSpace has
halted its advancement at nav bouy O-34 and is undergoing a
systems over-haul. Maintain a standard patrol until the
Freigter Connor has transferred the necessary parts and TIE
replacements...

mission 5 - Battle over ORION
- TIE Interceptor (Delta)
- In this, the final mission of the Tour of Duty, we lay claim to
the syndicate's homebase and manufacturing facility. TIE Delta
will clear all fighter cover (expect the best), while escort
transports from Dragon disable the factory and assault transports
from Savage capture it. TIE Delta maintains a standard patrol
until the Frigate Sumter arrives to relieve MCRV DeepSpace of
operations...

Directions:

These missions are distributed freely and at the user's own risk!
Make sure mission and batch files are unzipped in the TIE\MISSION directory
To install, simply type DSPINS.BAT
Play Battle #2 in TIE Fighter

If you are playing with the TIE Fighter CD, I would recommend turning off
the vocalized mission briefings since they will not match with what is
written.

To de-install, simply type DSPBACK.BAT

Requirements:

TIE Fighter and Defender of the Empire, or the TIE Fighter CD, both
by LucasArts.

Note about compatablility with the TIE CD:

These missions where created before the TIE CD came out, so I am not sure
about their compatability with it. The missions seem to run fine, as well
as the briefings, although I did run into some slight text problems in the
questions section (mission 5)...

Credits:

This version (3) includes the corrections of version 2 that were called to
my attention by Patrick Atoon (Thanks again), as well as several briefing
problems that where encountered using TIE CD. At the moment, it appears
question responses over 3 pages in length are 'cut' by the game.

Missions created using TIE MISSION BUILDER 1.21, by SilverSoftware
Briefings created with BSL.EXE and COMPILE.EXE, by SilverSoftware
Format of the batch files by Micheal "Vyper" Stauber, who also created
another good Tour of Duty called "The Shieldtech Research Lab"

All these programs are available on the "Star Wars Archive,"
anybody with any computer experience can find it on the net.

Notes and Requests:

These missions are meant to be played on the medium or hard levels,
but most dedicated TFRs will find them extremely easy. They were created
on a lower end 486, so there are not all that many flight groups and those
pilots who just like to kill things, even their own capitol ships, will not
get too much enjoyment out of them. The missions reflect my ideas that any
organization, Imperial, Rebel, or otherwise, would not have the capitol or
resources to throw large numbers of spacecraft into battle. Also, there
are no super TIE fighters, like the Advanced or Defender (ie GOD MODE), so
get used to flying stock TIE like most other pilots in the Imperial Navy.
One final note, most ships will try to leave once they have been sufficently
damaged, so don't get left behind in the cold vacuum of space in your lonely
TIE Fighter.

You may do with these missions what you will, but if you distribute them,

TYRANNIAN CONSPIRACY
BG Dactyl/Eta-2/PLT Haven

Over the past week the new Imperial spacestation Haven has been monitoring a section of
nearby space. An Imperial spy probe was monitoring a Light Calamari Cruiser that suddenly
disappeared in a very small cloaked minefield. Upon a closer examination of the mines they have
been identified as belonging to the rogue group of raiders known as the Tyrannians.
Over five years ago, the Empire had several small attacks from the Tyrannians. Attacks
range from small squandrons of Y-wings to the largest assault involving two Dreadnaughts. Since
then, Tyrannian attacks have been almost non-existent. Based on gathered info, the Tyrannians
are a species who do not take prisoners nor capture ships. Instead they either defend their space
or capture more space which is rich in natural resources. Most of their ships are either bought or
have been offered to them by the Rebellion. They have also built their own ships from stolen
blueprints because TIE Interceptors had been found from their past attacks. Other reports have
concluded that the Tyrannians are skilled technicians in building almost any ship in existent just by
studying their enemy ship's structures.
The news of the disappearing Calamari has been passed on to Grand Admiral Ronin who
is slightly concerned and plans to make a temporary stop at Spacestation Haven to view the
reports himself. During the first day of his visit, a lone Tyrannian Scout Craft was located over 15
kilometers away from the station. However, the craft was already on its way into hyperspace
before Gunboats could be dispatched to capture it. Afterward, the same spy probe that observed
the disappearance of the Light Calamari observed the exact same Scout Craft disappear by the
cloaked minefield and at the same time the spy probe was destroyed. Shocked, GA Ronin took
the news back to Coruscant. The Emperor has ordered the GA Ronin back to the station and to
keep him informed if anything new comes up. He has also ordered Ronin to use any necessary
force in the event of an emergency.

These are the best missions I have created. But since I don't have a registered TMB the
briefings are awful. So I have written them out below. Since these missions are superb (to me at
least), I have begun making missions where these two have left off.

BRIEFING: Defend the Interdictors!

Interdictors Vader and Palpatine of GA
Ronin's fleet are now awiating to take
spy probes into what is now called the
TYRANNIAN VANISHING POINT. Flight
groups of TIEs have been dispatched
to keep the area secure until Cargo
Ferries have arrived with the probes.

What are the objectives?

You are to patrol the area and
eliminate any possible threat to
the Interdictors. Also protect the
Cargo Ferries when they arrive with
the probes.

What craft will I be flying?

You will fly a TIE Defender
with a supply of 16 adv.
Concussion missiles.

Opposition?

None that we know of. From
past experiences the Tyrannians
have always succeeded in the
element of surprise.

How may I serve the Emperor?

The Emperor is concerned about
the disappearances of ships
at the Tyrannian Vanishing Point.
He hopes that GA Ronin will be
able to discover how and why these
ships disappear. You can help buy
eliminating any Tyrannian
opposition in the area.

BRIEFING: The Tyrannian Threat

Since the last Tyrannian attack,
Spacestation Haven has taken an
offensive/defensive posture.
GA Ronin and his officials are
preparing to leave. GA ronin will
leave on an ETR when ISD Deathwing
arrives. Deathwing will then
hyperspace and return to pick up
Ronin's officials. Above all, the
Spacestation Haven must not fall!

What are the objectives?

Your first concern is to protect
Spacestation Haven. When ISD
DEATHWING GA Ronin's ETR will leave the
station be sure to protect it. Afterward,
continue to protect the station until
DEATHWING returns to pick up Ronin's
accompanying officials.

What craft will I be flying?

You will fly a Missile Boat with
the standard armanent of adv
concussion missiles and adv
torpedos. CUV WEAPONRY will be
standing by to reload.

Opposition?

Several ships have appeared through
the Tyrannian Vanishing Point. Among
these ships are the Rebel Light Calamari that
had disappeared, a Rebel frigate and a vague
report of another Tyrannian Dreadnaught.
Some Tyrannian ATR's have been sighted as well.
It is clear that the Tyrannians are conspiring
with the Rebellion. To what reason they are
attacking is still a mystery.

How may I serve Emperor?

The Emperor has concluded that the Tyrannians
are a clear and present danger to the Empire.
(I've always wanted to say that) Destroy all
Tyrannian craft!

It has come to my attention that our weekly online meetings are a bit...chaotic. A
while back, I was involved in an online club on the now decfunct (?) INN network. We,
too, had weekly meetings and even though the membership was (predictably) much
smaller than the EH, those meetings too were chaotic before we instituted a chatroom
etiquette similar to the one below. I would like to propose the following simple
chatroom etiquette:

1.) All members wishing time to "speak" at the meeting should prepare their statements
in a plain text editor, such as the one built into AOL, before the meeting and "copy &
paste" their statements at the proper time during the meeting. This should cut down
considerably on the "typing lag" sometimes experienced.

2.) Their shall be no speaking during another members address!

3.) To ask a question, an attendee types in "/?" (without the quotation marks) and waits
to be "called on" by the present speaker.

4.) To make a general comment, an attendee types in "/C" (without the quotation marks)
and waits to be "called on" by the speaker.

5.) To ask permission to address the assembled body, an attendee types in "/A" (without
the quotation marks) and waits to be "called on" by the presiding EH member.
