EH TECHNOLOGY BRIEFING

Cutscenes:

Cutscene graphics and format can be edited. It is very hard though, but we are progressing in learning the cutscene language.

Text:

All text in the entire TIE Fighter and TIE CD game can be edited. Including opening scroller and cutscene text.

Speech:

All TIE Fighter speech can be edited but it is hard to set up in TIE, but we are working on it. It is possible though! TIE CD cutscene speech, and all the speech that carried over from TIE Fighter can be edited. Radio messages and mission briefings (speech) cannot be edited because they are on the CD even on Max Install and CD is read only.

Sound FX:

All sound effects can be edited in TIE Fighter and TIE CD.

Graphics:

Cutscene and all other non-flight graphics can be edited. These are VERY hard to set up but once again it is possible!

Ship Graphics:

Ship (In-Flight) graphics are very hard to edit because they use a very strange coordinate system, but we are learning it. We can take off polygons very easily though.

Cockpit Graphics:

We have not YET edited cockpit graphics.

DEC NEWS

Imperial Microsystems Incorporated (IMI) merges with DEC:

CEOBill P recently requested a merger between DEC and IMI. The terms are as follows:

1) CEOBill P would join DEC as the Secondary Executive Officer (SEO)

2) DEC would gain all IMI designs, with full credit going to CEOBill P

3) DEC would gain the IMI picket fleet. DEC will be dropping one of its starfighter squadrons to accomodate Core Squadron onboard the VSD Beyond

Shadow Works (SW) merges with DEC:

Shekinah recently requested a merger between DEC and SW. The terms are as follows:

1) DEC would gain all SW designs, with full credit going to Shekinah

2) DEC would gain the SW picket fleet

3) Shekinah would join DEC as a minor advisor at his request

4) Shekinah will Captain the ISS Dark Sabre or I/CRV Striker if he desires

The E-Wing BlastBoat is one of the heaviest ships in existence. It functions well in both atmosphere and space. The TWE weapons were installed because after a while with regular weapons, the fusion reactors had a tendency to explode from the strain, so these weapons dissapate after about 32 shots. The secondary energy generator is controlled by operating what would be the shield system (F10 Key), which is absent. It is a small afterburner system that feeds a little extra power to the engines. Ion Pulses were installed for the downcharge of the Proton Pulses instead of Turbolasers because Ion Pulses use much less energy that the Turbolasers. Ion Pulses travel slower than Turbolasers because they are made up of the ionized gasses from the reactor instead of a pure laser. They do hit with the same impact though.

The K-21 is a souped-up K-20. It is probably the most powerful starfighter in existence, but its tremendous cost has put a damper on production (It has a credit counter instead of an odometer!). It can dogfight and take on capital ships EXTREMELY well.

The Phantom was a design originally tested in another Imperial program but never

produced due to a Rebel assault infiltrating the base and destroying the prototype and the

facility. A copy of the plans had been delivered to the Emperor at Coruscant and logged into the Top Secret Database which survived and was downloaded by fleeing Imperial forces after Endor and at the Research Base at Borus.

Its hull is based on an armored TIE cockpit with cloaking projectors and Interceptor-style "dagger" wings are mounted at 120 degree intervals. The weaponry consists of a pair of heavy particle lasers built by Shadow Works.

The lasers are twice as powerful and carry a larger power storage battery than normal. They are also fitted with radiation shielding and armor to keep them operational where other systems might fail. Because the guns are more powerful, a supercharged shot travels more slowly and takes more time to fire - a readjustment flight is recommended before combat missions. When the guns fire nominal charges, they appear to fire faster than normal TIE lasers which many pilots prefer - some are known to drain thei lasers on purpose into the shields to maintain the advantage of "rapid-fire"

GAME NOTE: If the lasers are damaged, you can switch to "ions" and the lasers will still work and you have 4 recharge lines to work with; you may only fire 2 guns at a time however. Since we have not isolated a "beam byte" in the hex editing of fighters, the TIE Phantom must have a Jammer beam placed on it using TMB or TIEDIT mission editors unless you are playing a mission where the beam is damaged for the game or not equipped with one.

The cost of the TIE Phantom mainly stems from the cloaking device (whose actual cost is classified) but the basic fighter is about the same cost as a TIE Bomber - fairly economical for the performance...

The Blastboat fulfills the need for cheap, mass production equipment with a minimum of personnel but maximizing control over an area of space. These Blastboats are a modified Escort Shuttle with a Boarding Clamp and minimal crew bunks for extended operations up to one week (instead of a few hours for fighters). The ship can act as a transport carrying stromtroopers, ferry cargo as the need dictates with self-contained mission modules that can be interchanged and serviced quickly, and maintain order with an offensive punch of 3 turbo-lasers (more than a match for a corvette.)

While not particularly fast or manueverable, any fighters that get too close can be picked off by the turbo-lasers or ion cannons mounted on the ships hull. Additional sensors and comm gear are mounted in the lower dorsal pods.

Production is possible under all but the most extreme circumstances and parts for shuttlecraft are abundant and inexpensive. Usually operating in pairs or threes, the craft maintain a watchful eye on the Imperial systems under Hammer control.

Jedi Works

The proposed flagship of Jedi Works is the VSD Enterprise. The VSD Enterprise is stocked with a squadron of TIE Interceptor's designated Z-Alpha and one of TIE Bombers designated Z-Beta for heavy fire support. Within the superstructure of the VSD there is a Command, Research, Testing, Mass Production, Hangar, and a residential area for the VSD's crew. Attached to this is a GIF photo of the interior of the VSD with all the

sections of it labeled, for personal viewing. Also attached is a proposed ranking system which will be used to determine the rank of corporation members (RTF Format).

If there are any suggestions/objections/questions , my door is always open.

Purpose:

The purpose of this fighter is mainly to attack capital ships. It is not very good with faster fighters like A Wings and X Wings because they move out of the way of the Super Ions too fast. The Ionic Pulses are similar to the Vulcan Pulses, but the explode with the impact of an Protorp and they are limited. Use them to shred up MC80s! When the power is

about half, they start firing regular Ion Cannons.

The Super Ion Cannon is a new weapon for this ship. It is slow and does the damage of a Turbolaser. When it is half, It fires a regular Imperial Turbolasers.

The ICE Assassin fighter prototype file for use in the disk version of TIE Fighter will most likely be attached to Newsletter #30...First, the Science Officer must approve teh new CEOs claims regarding its posted maximum speeds, for no fighters in Imperial Naval history have been able to reach these speeds...!
