Cyclone Squadron
Report #8

- Commander
Phelan, Cyclone 1-2 - Citations
are Cyclone's top priority. :P Fly your citations assignments for
the week, and I recommend you for an ISM. It's just that simple. Fly
all of them for the month, and I'll talk to Cor about getting you
a PC. There were no citations assignments this week (due to my silly
error), but congrats to Shrike who managed to grab five more citations
for us. He will be rewarded. =P - Cyclone Squadron
is the winner of the Wing X Domination Bonanza! An impressive effort
all around as we capture first place in fiction and the FCHG race,
the top two spots in graphics and second place in citations. A firm
congratulations also goes to Inferno, which gave an incredible competition,
and to Tempest for their imrpessive participation. Great job all around! - Wing X is
the Flight Office's Own! We flew like 2500 missions in two months.
I'm pretty sure that TK and I accounted for 1400 hundred of those.

The Ship Commander, Locke, began by saying "Welcome Typhoon Squadron,
I have a very special annoucement to make regarding the future of
Typhoon Squadron and the Wing. For a long time we have not been at
full capacity regarding our squadrons and thusly our effectiveness
is degrading. After speaking to Colonel Coranel, Major Stukart and
Lt. Flyer, we have devised a plan that will bring more pilots into
the wing." A
few whispered words came from the assmebled pilots especially some
of the ones who had been around for a while, the wing had not been
full in a long time and many were wondering when that would happen.
Locke cleared his throat to quiet the crowd "The plan is to re-activate
a squadron that was de-activated a long time ago....that squadron
is Cyclone Squadron"
It's been a pretty
amazing week for Cyclone Squadron, as two huge pieces of news came
in early on. First, and most important, I'm happy to call Cyclone
the Challenged Squadron of
the ISD Challenge, as we are the winners of the Wing X Domination
Bonanza! I can't say enough how proud I am of my pilots for their
hard work, particularly on the part of Shrike, Phelan, Fink and Enzo.
I think that we have proven, in just two short months, that we are
the best squadron in the wing. =) The other big piece of news is the
Cyclone Squadron is Squadron of the Month! As some may recall,
one of my primary goals for Cyclone was to achieve SotM, and
I am impressed with how fast we have reached this landmark. We nearly
hit another landmark this past week, as I was contacted by a cadet
on the Daed about joining the Demolition Crew. Sadly, he chose the
mutt instead, putting us one short of my desired 10 pilots. But for
now, I believe that being the SotM and the Challenged Squadron is
enough, wouldn't you say? =)
- The new Cyclone
website layout is complete! Go to http://cyclone.ehnet.org
to have a look, if you haven't already. It has a new competitions
page, as well as revamped banners. Whoohoo.
- Lt. Phelan has shown the whole initiative thing and started a new
runon on the Cyclone message board detailing what happened when our
little squadron was reopened. Shrike and I have developed a fun plotline
to go along with it describing the recruitment of Fink and how Shrike
got his name, among other things. Fun times. ^^
- Reams of medals came in this week to coincide with our big victory
in the Wing X competition. Congrats go to me on my four IS-SRs; IS-BW
and IS-SW; to Phel on his two ISMs, IS-SR and his two IS-BRs; to Shrike
on his IS-SR, two ISMs and IS-BR; to Fink on his three IS-BRs and
his IS-SR; and to Enzo on his IS-SR and his IS-BR
- Cyclone Squadron is the ISD Challenge Squadron of the Month! Great
work, guys!
- Cyclone Squadron has engaged Kappa Squadron! All pilots are ordered
to fly TIE-FREE-105 and get the highest possible score. As a fun aside,
you can also write a fiction and try to get another medal. I know
we can win this. =)
- Wing X meetings
are 6:00 EST on Sundays in #wing_x. Join us for amusing trivia and
news from around the fleet.
- Welcome to VA Maverick, our new Commodore! He's cool. =) Prost was
demoted for bad breath. ^^
- Go to http://ehtiecorps.org
or http://www.emperorshammer.org
for the newest fleet news.
- Imperial
Storm V
This is is almost over. I think. Yay. =P
Frodo
is hosting the annual TAC FCHG competition. 'Cloners with mission
creation skilled are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and create
a six mission battle. Winner takes home an IS-PR. I'm working on my
submission right now. =P
- Cyclone Trivia
Each week, I will be sending out a set of trivia questions to the
mailing list. Answer as many correctly as you can, win a prize at
the end of the month if you answer the most. This competition is temporarily
suspended for July for the Wing X Domination Bonanza.
Not so much a competition as an ongoing event. Cyclone members are
encouraged to maintain a blog on the MB detailing their activity,
their thoughts, etc. Coranel apparently likes this idea enough that
he's starting his own blog soon. =P
-
Kappa vs Cyclone
Participants fly TIE-FREE-105 for a high score and send it to his
or her commander, and CC it to the opposing commander. As a fun addendum,
they can also write a fiction that would garner them an additional
IS-BR. The fics will be judged by Vice Admiral Master. There are no
particular topics for the fiction other than it must feature Kappa
and Cyclone. The top two out of three scores will be taken for the
mission. All entries are due on August 14!

Every week, I select a pilot who's high activity and excellence served
as an example for all Cyclone pilots. The selected pilot earns an
IS-BR at the end of the month, and their profile is enshrined for
the week on the Cyclone Squadron website.
Congratulations
to CM. Alexander Shrike,
who admirably took the initiative when my citations assignments failed
to materialize. =P He managed to gain five more citations while flying
several other battles along with the Kappa mission while posting to
the runon. Nice job, Alex! The standings for August are Shrike - 1.
