The Wargame began with a bang – swift movement in Turn One saw several planets targeted by Fleets in a bid to capture them at an early stage. Fierce battles were fought over the skies of Mon Calamari between TCBG and Sovereign Forces and for control of Ryloth between Sith and ASF Fleets. The Sovereign emerged victorious in their fight, but only after suffering grievous wounds in return. The Sith pulled off a stunning victory, battering the outnumbering ASF Fleet into oblivion and claiming Ryloth.
After this, the action died down as the Fleets consolidated their hold on planets and tended to their wounds. Various ships were seen scouting out the neutral planets, but no Team took the initiative for several turns. That is of course, until Turn 5. For several turns, the ATF Fleet, a mass of capital ships and fighter Squadrons, had been holding position over Korriban, daring anyone to try and wrest away control of the planet. The Sovereign team answered this bold challenge, and in Turn 5 a massive task force of Sovereign ships pounced on the defending ATF Fleet. In the hellish fighting that erupted, the entire first wave of ATF ships was annihilated, with the Sov taking little damage in return. Deciding that this was a battle that could not be won, the ATF commanders decided a swift retreat would be in order and fled the battle field, leaving a compact rear-guard to fight off the advancing Sov hostiles. The Sovereign team had claimed Korriban in a confident and brutal attack.
No battles have been fought since then, but Planets continue to be captured, lost and taken again. At the end of Turn 8, the Victory Points are as follows:
1st – Sovereign (36)
2nd – ASF (30)
2nd – Sith (30)
4th – TCBG (21)
5 – ATF (12)
As you can see, only 6 points separate the top 3 teams and will several planetary invasions taking place in Turn 8 (see the TC News page), there’s plenty to play for…
