ISD-II Grey Wolf
Commodore's Report #5
30th March 2005

<salute>

Well my 1st month as COM has flown by, and although it hasn't been a particularly noteworthy one, at least in positive terms, it has been a reasonable start. There is still plenty for your new command staff to do and Ambar, the CMDRs and myself are doing everything we can, as we can. Activity is still relatively weak in the wing, however we have seen some good activity from members of Vortex Squadron and some small amounts of activity from the majority of the other squadrons. I've even seen a couple of members I've not seen around in ages, coming back to grace our presence, so things are beginning to look up!

Enjoy the report!

Fleet/ASF News;

- Not only was the new XO chosen last week, but there were some awards also. FA Cyric was promoted to Sector Admiral and received a Medal of Honour, SDIR Aseret was promoted to Fleet Admiral, Yoda to Admiral and Demerzel was awarded a Gold Star. Congrats all!
- Due to Sarin being named XO last weekend, Cyric is now after a new CA:FO. If you think you have what it takes and are interested, read the requirements on the TC news page (posted Sat, May 21st) and send an application to Cyric. The position of COO is now open too, details are on the TC news page.
- The TAC Office has completed it's latest bug search, Operation Anteater. They're also after more Testers and have announced a new 'all encompasing' IWATS course is on the way....busy little beavers the TACs!
- The SCO site mirror is apparently down permanently. As such, do not use the sco.emperorshammer.net address anymore. The new mirror is set at http://sco.minos.net/.
- Imperial Storm started on Saturday, and by Monday we had an engagement with the Sith forces. Unfortunately we lost that encounter, but there is still a long way to go and we will do better next time I'm sure. Stay tuned for more info as the competition rages on!
- New battles/missions released this week!: XvT-Free 189, 190, 191, BoP-Free 34, XWA-Free 118 and 119. Fly 'em!
- The COMM has also announced that he's a lazy bugger and is now after a COMMA, or slave :P If your interested in working closely with Joey (*shudder*), go ahead and apply :P

Ship News
;

- Closure of Valkyrie Squadron: The biggest piece of wing news this week is the closure of Valkyrie Squadron. Due to falling numbers and loss of Mitim as CMDR (amongst other things) I made the decision that for the good of the wing I had to close Valkyrie Squadron. All members have been spread across the remaining squadrons by Cyric. I sincerely hope that this will be a temporary thing and in the not to distant future we see Valkyrie open and back to strength once again.

- Open CMDR positions: AGAIN!!!! I hear you all say. Well yes, until these positions are filled I will be reminding you all (and anyone else bored enough to read this) about the open CMDR positions in Phoenix and Odin. I do have some other news though this week, with Ambar and I receiving a couple of applications for the positions. I'm also expecting at least one more within the next week, so if all goes well we may very well have both CMDR positions filled by week's end! HOORAH!

- Imperial Storm: Yup, it's on again and it's going on as we speak. Unfortunately we lost our first engagement against the Sith, but lets make sure that it will be our last loss. I'm hoping that as the comp goes on we will get a bit more of a public heads up on this, as we were (or I was at least) caught a little flat footed on this last round. Everybody be ready to fight for the ASF, as we will need to do well from hereon in to ensure we're in a commanding position towards the end of the competition.

- Roster updating: I've spoken to Ambar and he's in the process of updating the official Wing Roster. CMDR's, if any of you notice he has missed anything, please make the change yourself if possible, or let Ambar know so he can change it. I've updated the roster on the Wolfpack website, Ambar and I have got access and it will be used regularly for news and other stuff. If you are new to the wing, or forgotten, it can be found at http://wolfpack.tiecorps.net/ - update bookmarks accordingly. This, our websites and our database pages are our first visual points of contact for potential members, and/or cadets trying to choose a wing, so I want everything up to date. To that end, if anyone sees anything that is out of date, please let your next in command know so it can be rectified!

- Websites: This brings me to my next point.....websites. I know currently we dont have all our CMDR positions filled, but within the next month, once filled, I want all Squadron websites online and at least somewhat regularly used. I dont expect CMDRs to be posting news on them every day, but I do want them well kept and presented. Ambar is chasing up access details for all the existing squadron websites and any we can't get access for will be replaced. I must congratulate Vortex CMDR Keiran for regaining access to his squads website and getting it up to date so quickly. Hopefully, we can get all the other websites online and up to date just as quickly.

- Open FL positions: Okay, it has been a well known fact for some time now that Cyric will not place cadets into squadrons without all their FL positions filled. So guess what? Any that are open are to be filled by CMDRs as soon as they find a suitable candidate. Any open spots in squads without a CMDR will be handled by myself, and if I cannot find/appoint someone before time, it will become the new CMDRs responsibility.

- Phoenix CMDR: Unfortunately, due to no activity and no contact, I had to step down CM Shivor Dahr this week from CMDR of Phoenix Squadron. I do not expect CMDRs to be around every day and fly every single week, but I do at the absolute least expect weekly reports and some form of activity from the leaders of our squadrons. I really do not like doing this, so dont force me to by becoming derelict in your duties. Keiran, Hex and Trent, keep up the great work guys!

- Recruiting: Yup, this will stay in my weekly reports until we start getting some! As I've said every report, when/if you get the time try and recruit through forums, MP gaming on BSC etc or you can always use the tried and true routes of offering help to cadets and trying to coax RSV's outta retirement. We need active new or returning members to boost our numbers and help us to remain in our rightful place as biggest and best ship in the ASF!

- MSEs: As I mentioned last week, the end of the month is almost upon us, and that means MSEs! The deadline is June 3rd, US-EST. Please make sure that you send them to Ambar on time, as Gidda doesn't want us dragging our feet getting them through to him and Ambar and I dont want to waste time getting nice shiny medals recommended for our active pilots!
