Commodore's Report #3
15th March 2005
Ok...my 3rd week as COM and I'm
still waiting for the penny to drop. Only kidding....it dropped when I maxed out
Yoda's cantina card for Ambar's promotion and was on the receiving end of
Gidda's temper :P All worked out alright, I sold some of Yoda's shortened
furniture to Frodo and all is now flush! Well, pretty quiet week on the ship,
but not without a couple of welcome announcements. Read on and
enjoy!

The Training Manual has been moved. It can now be found at http://www.imperialacademy.org/tmanual/.

In the last week there have been a number of new battles and frees released.
They are: XvT-TC 113, 114, 115, Free's 186, 187 and TIE-Free 255. Fly them and
see if you can earn some high scores!
- Congratulations to the RO, FA Joe on
his promotion to Fleet Admiral and for being awarded a Medal of Honour
for his work in organising and carrying off an awesome show at Celebration III.
Congrats and well done Joe! A special thanks to those who donated and also in
their own small way helped the show happen!
- The TAC reminds us all that it
is HIGHLY ILLEGAL to open, edit or otherwise toy with the custom missions
on our mission compendium. Doing so is considered cheating and unless asked by
the TAC or staff in an official capacity you should not open any mission files
in an editor.
- The TAC is also after 3 impartial judges for the final round
of his IMC competition. See the news page for more details!

New(old) Squadron CMDR: Yup....we filled one of our
open CMDR positions this week! Congratulations to Captain Keiran Laserlight on
his return to the wing and his promotion to Vortex Squadron CMDR. As most
of you will probably already know, Keiran has been a GW member on and off for a
fair while and has previously served as Vortex CMDR. He's already jumped into
the job feet first, has contacted his pilots, flown a couple of battles and
written an exceptional first WSR. Ambar and I look forward to a hopefully long
reign as CMDR and many good things from Vortex!
- Open CMDR
positions: Even though Keiran has filled the empty spot of Vortex CMDR,
we still need CMDR's for Odin and Valkyrie Squadrons. If anyone is
interested, please let Ambar and myself know, we cannot consider you for a
command position if we dont know that your interested! Also, like I've
mentioned before, if you know of anyone from outside of the wing/ASF thats
interested....encourage them to apply.
-
WSRs: Just a reminder to reiterate what Ambar said in an
email to CMDR's earlier this week. As VA Gidda outlined in his first
ASF BGCOM address, he's changed the times for reports to be submitted.
WSR's are due by Friday, the WWR is due Saturday and my COM report is due
today (Sunday)! If you are or think you will have trouble meeting these
deadlines, either on an occasional or regular basis, let myself and Ambar know
and we'll sort something out. Don't forget when writing your reports to cc
Gidda, and of course myself and Ambar. All reports are to be uploaded onto the
TC site, so dont forget to do that every week
either!
-
Competitions: As I mentioned last week, Ambar has now
released his two new Wing competitions. Details of both should be
in WSR's and Ambar's report, so I wont triplicate it here. I will
however have links to them below, so if you haven't heard about them
yet, check the official competition links. Also, dont forget VA Gidda's ASF
wide HS competitions, which are on until the 24th of this month. The missions
are XWA Free 112 and XvT Free 137...good luck all!
-
Recruiting: Again, as it was last week, recruiting is my final
topic. With the return of Keiran we're now at 39, but I expect that number will
drop and rise a little with impending roster changes and a couple of recruits
coming through now and again. If/when you get some time, see if you can do some
recruiting, I know it's not as easy now as it used to be, but every new member
is a possible active and dedicated member of the wing and perhaps even a
future Squadron CMDR. Do your best guys and gals, thats all we can
do!
