Beta Squadron Weekly Report #2
May 10th, 2005
CM J'Lek Arcanos, Commanding

Squadron Briefing

Before I begin the bulk of my briefing, I want to welcome Beta's
newest member, Sub-lieutenant Lola Eris, who joins us directly from
the Daedalus to serve as Beta 1-2. I am sure that she will be yet
another positive asset to Beta Squadron and that we will see her
advance to full Lieutenant in short order.

I also am pleased to announce the new Flight Leader for Aradia Flight
(Flight 2). Lieutenant Tirna Q'jira has been appointed to my old post
with the compliments of the Flight Officer's staff. I'm sure that
there isn't a single person in this squadron that doesn't doubt
Tirna's ability to fill this role as one of the Flight Leaders of the
Stoic Yaks of the Squadron.

Pilots, from a flying standpoint, I'd have to say that we fell short
of where some of us wanted to be. TIE-FREE #252 was a difficult
mission for some of us, yours truly included. Despite this setback, I
am not disappointed in the least when I look back over this past week.

I have been truly pleased with what I've seen over the mailing list.
People are asking questions when they have them, and others of you are
volunteering answers. This may seem to be a small thing to some of
you, but I tell you that this is truly something that will push Beta
from being a good squadron to being a great squadron.

I would like to encourage all of you who fly a mission for the Ladder
to send your thoughts, comments, and strategies to your fellow pilots
by way of this mailing list. This sort of thing helps the entire
Squadron to improve, and it reminds all of us that we aren't flying
these missions by ourselves.

Speaking of the missions for the SP Ladder, I've attached the TIE
Mission's EHBL file. The list of missions for this week is as
follows:

TIE-FREE Battle #255 - The Defector
http://www.emperorshammer.net/battles/battle.asp?record=1189
XvT-FREE Battle #187 - Saving VA Master's Father
http://www.emperorshammer.net/battles/battle.asp?record=1191
XWA-FREE Battle #113 - Battlegroup VII Relocation
http://www.emperorshammer.net/battles/battle.asp?record=1073

Try to fly at least one. I know that we all have TIE, so there's no
excuse to not fly (actually there's plenty of excuses, but I'm trying
to turn a blind eye to that :P )

Since my last report, we've gained three fresh pilots. Unfortunately,
this upward shift in our membership has also resulted in an upward
shift in the minimum number of pilots that have to fly a battle in
order for us to earn a citation. We now earn citations after 5 pilots
have flown a battle, which means that all of our citations that we
earned back in the days when we needed only three pilots to fly a
battle are now gone.

I'm not upset by our loss of citations. I will be working on a plan
of attack with the Flight Leaders to earn back the citations that we
had, but in the meanwhile, if you finish the missions that you can fly
for the SP Ladder, I'd like to recommend that you head over to
http://gysnet.com/index.php?wing=1&squad=2 to see our citation
standings. Take some time to fly one of the 43 battles that we don't
have citations on yet.

Be ready to fly for the Imperial Storm wargame. I'm looking for an
officer (and by officer, that includes Sub-lieutenants...you guys
aren't just Cadets any more) or officers to keep a close eye on this
wargame and help keep the rest of the Squadron informed. If you're
even remotely interested in helping me out, send me an e-mail.

Squadron Status

- Sovereign May SP Ladder Week 2 has begun with the TIE mission
already flown by LT Hunter! (TIE mission file for EHBL attached)

- Imperial Storm V on hold. SP Missions to be announced when they
occur. Any pilot who can play XWA in multiplayer needs to contact the
SOVCOM at tieknt@gmail.com immediately to help our ship on that front!

- Flight Pairing System will be presented again in this next week to
educate newer squadron members.

- We have no squadron citations. This is due to the sheer number of
new faces we've had joining us, and is therefore a good problem.

Final Thoughts

Despite our lower-than-usual flying level for a competition, we've had
a very impressive week. I'm looking forward to making our new pilots
full Lieutenants.

If you're having troubles flying the SP Ladder missions, let us know.
We can't help unless you tell us. Ask, and we shall do what we can to
help.

Let's show Wing I what the Stoic Yaks can do.

Dismissed.
