MAYOR – City will be a Research Center for the remainder of the week.
MILITIA – Garrison space has been cleared to allow for fireteam offices. Still organizing competition details. Bases have been purchased so stock up on FP for turrets (cheap in Naboo).
MEDICAL – Dax-o Corrin has been appointed City Doctor! Currently looking to complete his 12pt Doctor suit.
EVENTS – Taking Applications for fulltime Event Coordinator (Role Playing Guru). Role playing quest with TCO in the works, yet have yet to receive word back from TCO (P.o.C. Kyy). Plans include incorporating the new Event perks.
COMMERCE (From Commerce Manager - Krenn’sa) – As most of you already know patch 14.1 for SWG, which went live on 03.25.05, has some interesting and wide-sweeping changes in store for the Merchant/Crafting (and consumer) communities. I believe most of the changes are for the better but like anything else in SWG, you should know how to use the system to your best advantage.
Major highlights of the patch 'improvements' include:
- Galaxy/server-wide search capability from any public bazaar terminal.
- Sort private vendors (ones registered with search) by item, location, distance, price, etc.
- You can NOT purchase the item nor retrieve it from the public bazaar, but instead you 'Get Waypoint' which is added to your datapad (CTRL-D). Think of this as basically a review feature to see what is on sale where across the galaxy. You still have to travel to the vendor to purchase/retrieve the desired item. This will allow the Merchants to still have an incentive to maintain well decorated shops/tents. However, it does require a moderate amount of travel to get your stuff. At least it's no longer hit and miss random searching through hundreds of dead vendors...which is a VERY good thing.
- The search can be VERY overwhelming as dozens of pages of items can now be perused. But if you stick with it, you can find some great deals and hard to find items. I would suggest using the bazaar to locate those hard to find items/resources/loot that you have not been able to easily locate. I have found several very good deals on some out of spawn resources...When was the last time you found Agawi Steel for 3 pcu !?! :) I picked up about 500k of that last night LOL
All in all, despite the fact that Merchant skill is not required to 'enable' a vendor to the galaxy-wide searches, effectively negating the Advertising tree of the Merchant Skill, it should increase business overall. If nothing else, it will serve to lower/moderate prices across the server. As it stands now, you only need 0-0-3-0 to enable a vendor for this search function...
In preparation for these changes, Alvaak Arms, and I believe the rest of the SM crafter/merchant community, have been busy stocking our shelves with thousands of items for purchase.
With this patch, I will also be lowering pricing on my Ubese/Composite lines of armors and skill tapes by 10-20% as they expire and are restocked over the next 30 days...
RESOURCE – Mashabak has drafted a mission statement and division guideline regarding the Resource Division. With the division in full swing the guild should be able to acquire all the resources it needs to be self sufficient, providing it gets support from the members of the guild. He will be posting it shortly on the message boards.
