Vortex Weekly Squadron Report #10

Last report on Friday the 14th November 2003

Fiction for a good start:

*** ISDII Grey Wolf, hangar

The alarm beeper's sound was horrible. It always made all the pilots wanted to get out from the ship as fast as possible. And that was the reason why so many beepers were placed all over the ship. And of course that flashing red light...

Vortex pilots run into the deck. They picked up their helmets and jumped into their fighters. Several seconds later 4 Missile boats escorted by 8 TIE Advanced left the ship. The fighters formed up in the three vics and flew through space facing the Rebel cruisers. The Winged Calamari Cruiser was a real threat for the Grey Wolf itself. The other ones including Light Calamari Cruiser and two Carrack class ships headed toward the Grey Wolf's escort ships. A swarm of fighters appeared in no time.

"Heads up" - CMDR Laserlight said -"We've got incoming orders" - after a second CMDR's voice was replaced by the Commodore's one.

"Vortex Flight II will engage the Mon Hekate, concentrate on the front turbolaser turrets and the missile launchers. Flights I and III cover them." - Given orders were clear. The enemy fighters were closing in very fast. Keiran switched the communications to the Inflight mode.

"Flight I attack the X-Wing Red group from below. I'll take the leader" - the other Flights were closing to the Cruiser. First Heavy Rockets has been fired. Flight III engaged a group of A-Wings which was too close to the bomber group. Keiran tried to think about his target. The rebel pilot targeted him as well. It was going to be a real duel beetwen skilled soilders. Keiran took the shoot first. Green lines of the lasers run through the space and hit the X-Wings left wings. The pilot seemed to turn his craft, but the second shot was more accurate than the first one. Rebel fighter blew up in the fireball. Keiran targetted the second X-Wing quicly. It was a bit too the right so he turned the "Laserlight's Thunder" to head toward the enemy. Red 5 was targetting a fighter from his Flight. Gruckin Rahn was in big trouble there. X-wing shoot the red lasers just above Vortex 3. Keiran put the thorttle to 100%. He couldn't let his people to die in this small battle. After few turns the X-Wing was in million of pieces and Vortex Flight I was heading directly to Mon Hekate.
"Load the Advanced Torpedos! Fire at will!" - Keiran said to the intercom and closed the communications. He also shut down the targetting device. Keiran switched the Torpedes into dual fire and shoot the Rebel Cruiser. All missiles but one hit the hull and damaged it. Turbolasers from the Grey Wolf finished the Rebel ship. Big explosion all aroud the deck appeared. Then the Mon Hekate broken into two pieces and driffted along with no life readings.

"Good job Vortex. Finish up the fighters!". Commodore aboard the Mutt was happy with the conclusion of the battle. Scratch another Rebel CRS, a CRL destroyed by Crusader and two Carrack Cruisers taken out by Odin. The Wolfpack wins again.

Vortexian Leader's Office:

Woooohoooo!! Another week passed and what we have here? A promotion! Captain rank is a great reward for all these ten months of duty in TIE Corps. But enough about that, activities in the Corps are very low at the moment. Not much is happening. But the Grey Wolf is still advancing in members! great number - We'll soon hit 60 or even more! About the squadron? We have a new website, a new competitions and some new appointments. Heads up! Here come the news:

3. Oh! Oh! Two new free missions! Great job by the Tactical Office... Where is Call to Chaos ?!

- ASF/Ship/Wing

1. The messageboard is now concentating on the ASF Fight Club where Grey Wolf pilots smash the others!
2. The Grey Wolf is the still the most crowdy ship... Grey Mutt counter at 58.
3. My Pillow Counter has just hit 50 ! Congratulations to CPT Drako for being my 50th pray...errr.. donor!
4. 6th round of GWTG comp is off! At least 3 submissions from our squadron I want to see!
5. Operation Variable in December! Two-man-teams from one squadron needed. I am still looking for a partner ;)
6. Grats for LCM Valin Drago and LCM Reelo Antaan who have been promoted lately.
7. We still want Call to Chaos...
8. The ship has another morale booster! A friend of RedBabe has joined the Wing's channel. Say hello to Nic0!
9. Be sure to chect the poem Chrissy wrote last week about the Grey Wolf. It's really great!
10. Last but not least. Wing Commander's Own announced... and it's of course VORTEX squadron. congratulations for everyone who participated.

- Squadron

1. Another Vortexian enters and wins the Easterr Egg Competition. The current standings are : Kod 3 Kei 2 Trent 1
2. Tiamat did great this week - a big congratulations on creating a great website for the squadron. Check it in the CMDR's site of the week! (The site is already added to the roster)
3. Trent reports that he has an old Uniform Patch for Vortex... Submit it Trent! If you'll find it of course!
4. We have new Executive Officer. After Kodiak the job goes to LT Tiamat. His duties are to mentain website menagement and replace myself if I am out somewhere. Another reward for the pilot is the appointment for Flight III Flight Leader. He's the most active Vortexian at tne moment. You're making me really really proud.
5. I have started another competition. Keptin on the Bridge is something like my promotion party. Each of the Vortex pilots can duel myself for a 1 (one) MP match each week of the competition (other matches doesn't count for the KotB comp. However they still count for the LoC system). If you will smash my figter more times than I will smash yours You will receive a shiney Iron Star Bronze Wings! Four of these to win until 19th December!
6. Catch the Vortex into Web comp winner : LT Tiamat. IS-BR has een awarded.
7. Citations at 109, Roster at 12, me at 7 heaven.

Patch Us

Deadline: 25th November 2003
Rules: As we all know our squadron needs a Patch both to the Dress Uniform and Flightsuit. To participate in this competition you'll need to make a design of both Patches (or just Dress Uniform one - the Flightsuit Patches will not be excepted without Dress Uniform ones) to make our Uniforms look better. The maximal size for DU is 35*45 pixels, for the FS up to 60*75 pixels. The best submission chosen by myself wins.
You can win: IS-BR for the best entry. Extra merit points for entry in this competition.

Lowscore Hunt

Deadline: 25th October 2003
Rules: A little funny competition for lazy pilots. You get the XvT-FREE 123. Fly the mission to get the lowest score possible (0 [zero] doesn't count!!!). The lowest score wins the medal. Another great thing about that one - you fly in Diamondback squadron here - make their patrol a hell!
You can win: IS-BW for the worst but completed submission. ZERO doesn't count - don't fly with Unlimited waves!

Grey Wolf Top Gun Competition

CMDR's Final Notes

As the time passes I can see much progress in the squadron. Each week we have at least 4 people who submit BSF or pass a course. The IRC activity is high what's very important. Every CMDR would like to have such squadron I command. You're all great. Be tough!
