Operations Office Report #6
Rear Admiral Alex Foley Reporting - October 10, 2003

This is getting more and more confusing...

  1. Let me preface this report by saying I am not AD Khaine. I am not Howie either, for that matter, as much as I might want to be. For the most part, I enjoy to keep a sort of tradition, but everyone must understand that the policies of former OPS are not necessarily going to be my policies.

  2. The biggest thing I had to deal with this week was colored uniforms. I hope people actually read my reports, because this is important. No one may edit the color of uniforms, especially not before asking me first. I am granting some leeway to the elite squadrons on this matter, but not much. I believe in authoritative leadership, so I'm going to explain why I made this choice (and thank you to OPSA Tempest for weighing both the pros and cons for me). Our uniforms were crafted to be some great looking uniforms. Everything about them - every template, every medal, is designed to make the uniforms look great. Not shabby, not good, but great. When someone alters the uniform, often times they do not care to make all new medal, rank, and position templates with that color. The sash is another thing - some just select the old sash and copy it onto the new one. This looks horrible, so I will never accept it. Any colored uniform (and they can only come from elite squadrons) must first be approved by the squadron commander, then by me. And everyone in the squadron must use the same uniform - no exceptions. It's either all or nothing. Just some guidelines for you; please feel free to contact me if you think I'm being unfair.

  3. Medals went very smoothly this week. I want to emphasize that MSEs need to be coordinated - please do not award double medals for the same thing. Also, just because someone earned a PC and an ISM for the month doesn't mean they deserve another ISM for the same work.

  4. Just for future reference, don't try and bully me in e-mails. I am not going to back down from any position simply because you want me to. I'm not trying to be confrontational, in fact I'm trying to be the exact opposite. Just be nice and we can all play fair.

Ambition is a poor excuse for not having sense enough to be lazy.
