Wing III News Headlines

- Holy blistering goat cheese, Batman!!! If you have looked at the section above, you probably noticed that we had A LOT of medals distributed throughout the wing. All in all, it was a good week to be in Wing 3! Pay special attention to the first two ... we had both a Gold Star AND a Silver Star awarded to pilots in our wing this week! Let's have a warm round of applause for Jahan Kalar and Cray Mikalen!!! Jahan has been rewarded for his great work with the Recon Office, and Cray for excellent work while beta testing! Also, another special nod to all the excellent pilots of Beth Squadron, who were awarded a Palpatine's Crescent for their excellent second place finish in the XWA League. Those PCs were handed out by none other than AD Sarriss herself! Great work, Beth!!!

 

- Speaking of the XWA League, here are the final results, as reported by MAJ Badlands :

- The new Sovereign Medical Supervisor (SMS), or "Super Doc", for the Sov is none other than our very own Wing III Doc, CM Lavos! Lavos will still be handling his responsibilities as our Wing Doctor, it's just that he now has even more work! Be sure to drop him an e-mail and congratulate him on his new position.

 

- New Gimel Flight 3 motto and nickname :

 

    GIMEL FLIGHT 3 NICKNAME : The Ravens of Death

    GIMEL FLIGHT 3 MOTTO : "Quote the Raven, 'Nevermore' "

 

- Beth CMDR Sequoh Marden remains on leave until August 27th. Beth remains in the very capable of hands of Acting CMDR Cray Mikalen until then.

 

- Commendations of Loyalty will be awarded very soon! CoL's are only given out twice a year, on the anniversary of the founding of the Emperor's Hammer, and on the Fleet Commander's Birthday. The CoL is quite a prestigious award, and only the most excellent pilots are considered to recieve it. A wing can only have three recommendations for pilots to recieve a CoL, and only one can be given per squadron. My recommendations have been made, so hopefully you will hear all about it in the next report ...

 

- The famous Commodore's Own Award has been given to Sigma Squadron of Wing II ! The COM's Own is rarely awarded, and even then is handed out to only the best squad aboard the SSSD Sovereign. It should be a goal for every squad in Wing III to strive to recieve this award some day!

 

- COM/FA Kramer is planning a big competition for the SSSD Sovereign ONLY, planned to begin sometime next month. Stay tuned ...

 

- Gimel's LT Quake has been busy this week! He's submitted several great looking graphics for the Wing III competition, and he's also created the new TIE Corps banner that is being displayed at TIECORPS.ORG! Be sure to surf on over to the TIE Corps homepage and check it out. Quake has also submitted a great looking picture of the SSSD Sovereign, which you will find attached for your viewing pleasure.

- While we're on the subject ... a word about attachments on the Wing III reports. After last week's report, which I mass-mailed to the entire wing, I recieved quite a few complaints from people who couldn't access the attachments. All attachments are compressed to save space using WinZip for WIN 95/98. You can download this handy program at http://www.winzip.com . If you just cannot retrieve an attachment no matter how hard you try, e-mail me and I will send it to you uncompressed. However, for the majority of readers, compression of the attachments saves space and time.

 

- CMDR/CM Lavos is hard at work on the Hey Squad website : http://hey.squadron.org

 

- Congratulations to TCCOM / FO Sarriss, who has recently been promoted to the rank of Admiral !!!

 

- Lots of talk this week on the Beth mailing list about the new Beth Squadron award ... the Golden Spoon. The Golden Spoon, while not an 'official' EH award, can still be placed in Beth pilots ID lines by simply adding the text, "Beth Squadron Golden Spoon" to the end. Also, former Beth boy CM Var Zoraan even created a graphical version for Beth's uniforms, which you will find attached ;-)

 

- CMDR/CPT Jahan Kalar promises to announce a "cool new thing" for Aleth Squadron later this week ...

 

- He also informs us all to not touch Willie.

Wing III Orders

- R E C R U I T ! ! !

 

    All Wing III pilots, remember to ALWAYS be on the lookout for potential recruits. The more people we can get into our wing, the better! You never know when you will run into a potential recruit ... they're everywhere. They are in your classrooms ... in your workplace. You pass them on the street everyday. They are the guy across the room, and the lady working in the DMV. They are the nut in the IRC chatroom with you, and the dude you just bought a hat from on Ebay. Also, remember that if your recruit survives basic training on the TIE Corps platform, you will recieve the Medal of Instruction (MoI) for recruiting them! So let's get out there and find some allies in our struggle against the Rebel scum!!!

 

- Wing III multi-catagory competition continues to run ... I'm already seeing the first entries show up in my inbox! Remember, catagories in XWA TIE Fighter Flight (mission attached), graphics, and fiction. All major details were given in the last wing report ... anyone who missed it or just needs to see the rules again should feel free to contact me. Deadline is September 10th!!!

 

- Sovereign Squadron League CR#12, for pilots who own TIE CD/95, is currently active! Battle to fly is TC-TIE 128, deadline August 30th. All CMDRs should have a report for their squads in to me ASAP after the 30th. Report in even if nobody in your squad flew the mission.

- This is for all the Wing III "Old School" pilots ... Admiral Havoc, who used to be the W3 WC, has stepped down from his position as Combat Operations Officer (COO) and into retirement. I think everyone agrees that Havoc did a great job with Wing III while he was here, and is a fine officer.

- This just in from Wing V's WC Fondor :

- Shore leaves ... this would be a horrible time for a Rebel surprise attack, since some of the most important Wing III personnel are all on leave!

    CMDR/MAJ Sequoh Marden : On leave until August 27th. LCM Cray Mikalen named as Acting Squadron Commander (A-CMDR) for Beth.

    CMDR/CPT Jahan Kalar : On leave until August 16th. LCM Turr named to act with Jahan's full authority in case of emergency.

- Time's up, and I will now announce the winner of the Wing III Top Gun contest for July. Our winner is CM Pete Mitchell ... since only one other pilot even participated (Daleth's LT Rapper), he had very little competition. Just as I promised, our winner has been awarded an ISM. Here are the compiled results :

    LT Rapper : 2,643 pts.

 

    Kudos to LT Rapper for taking the time to participate. Otherwise, I might have actually considered this competition to be a failure >:p

 

 

 

 

Wing III Orders

----------------------

 

- Okay, let's try something new ... it's time for a multi-catagory competition! That way EVERYONE can find something to do. The competition will begin NOW and run until September 10th, which is roughly a month ... PLENTY of time to participate, here. Appropriate medals will be handed out for each catagory. Speaking of which ...

 

    THE CATAGORIES!

 

    TIE FLIGHT : Your mission, should you choose to accept and participate in the TIE Flight catagory, is to fly the attached ORIGINAL Free-XWA mission that has been created by Daleth's LCM Herman. You will find the mission, "The Duel", attached to this report.

 

    GRAPHICS : Should you choose to participate in the graphics portion of the contest, you need to get to work designing and creating some great artwork. I'll make it even easier ... there is no particular theme that your picture must follow. Just as long as it has SOMETHING to do with Star Wars and the EH, then it will count as a valid entry.

 

    FICTION : Attention all budding writers! This is the chance to make yourselves known in the wing. All fiction entries should be no less than 300 words, and preferrably will detail some of the exploits of your fellow Wing III pilots. .DOC format is preferred, but others (.TXT, etc etc) will be accepted.

 

 

    Participation in more than one catagory is not only allowed, it's highly encouraged!

 

    TIE Flight will be judged according to who has the highest score. There will be an individual winner, and also a top squadron. The top squadron will be determined by averaging the scores of the participants on a squad basis.

    Graphics and Fiction will be judged by myself and a panel of judges, probably 3 or 5 judges so a tie cannot be possible. I will be a judge, and other high ranking Sov officers will be asked to fill the other judges spots (most likely the Commodore and some of the other Sov WCs). So let's get busy, people, and give them something to judge! I want this to be as hard for the judges as possible ... in other words, I want to see some really good entries ;-)

 

    Remember, deadline is September 10th. All entries should be e-mailed to me, ZIPped if necessary, and CC'ed to your CMDR. Let's get busy, and prove that your squad is the best!!!

 

 

- XWA League ends TODAY. Final results and medal awards will be announced soon! Stay tuned for XWA League II, coming soon to a competition board near you.

 

- Combat Run #11 of the Sovereign Squadron League (for all pilots who own TIECD/TIE95) has been announced! The battle to fly is TC-TIE #77, "The Verpine Encounter, part 1". You will find the battle attached, deadline is August 15th!

- The hunt for a new Wing III WC's "assistant" is on! After a horrible lab accident that involved an artificial mohawk, a blow torch, and some highly flammable Windex (don't ask), I'm afraid that my beautiful female Mr. T helluva tough clone had to be put out of her misery.

    And that makes me the only WC on the Sov without a hell-raising assistant to keep you guys living in constant fear ... I knew something was missing. MAJ Inkwolf has her ground crew (namely, some rats named Melvin and Squeaker) ... I believe GN Ricardo has a hard drinking, hard partying cat. GN Wolly in Wing I just throws chairs at people ... that's kind of like having an assistant, I guess. And, of course, "Crazy" Commodore Kramer has The Scorpions (*shudder*).

    So keep looking behind you, because my new assistant should be arriving soon ... and it's first assignment will be to terrorize anyone who doesn't participate in AT LEAST ONE of the catagories for the Wing III competition >:)
