I'm terrible sorry...but you got the job!!!

"Oh no...who kidnapped AD Theodore from the Battlecry Offices!!!" cried out FO Sarriss, "He's not hiding under his desk as usual!!!"

The new Flight Officer looked around to see if she could find anyone to help. Sadly there was no one else around but an inept Staff Writer, CPT Werdna Elbee, who had been busy checking his latest article for spelling mistakes for the past two hours.

"Have you checked his drinks cupboard?" suggested Werdna "He sometimes hides in there when an FO visits him with new orders."

Sarriss went to the cupboard to find one of the doors slightly open. She crept up to it slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible. When Sarriss got close enough to get a hand to the door handle, she pounced!!!

"A-HA! Found you, Theodore!!! you thought you could..."

No one was in there...

...in fact, there was nothing there but a little note ???

By this time Werdna had followed to see the events unfold, but looked worried when he saw that the drinks cupboard was bare.

"Hey, this can't just be hide 'n' seek! If there are no drinks in the cupboard then..." Werdna paused for a moment considering the facts, "then it's unlikely that he's coming back."

"I can barely read out the handwriting on this note," Sarriss cut in, "Here...you may have better luck with it."

Werdna took the note and read out what he could. It would have taken someone else several years to decipher the writing, but Werdna had to learn fast with Theodore being his editor. Even then, he still couldn't read it all.

"It says...I'm sorry, but I am afraid that I have to resign from my position as Battlecry editor. My reason is...I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT..."

"Yes, I get the point, Captain," Sarriss interrupted, "does the note say anything else?"

Before Werdna could say no, he stopped himself. He realised the if Sarriss couldn't read the note, then he could get away with anything! "Erm...yes...yes it does!!!"

"Well, spit it out, pilot!"

Werdna hesitated before continuing, "It says...it says that I should be the next Editor...and that I deserve a medal for everything that I have done for this newsletter."

"What kind of medal has been requested for you?" Sarriss asked.

YES!!! It was working!!! Werdna was thinking that he might just get away with this if he didn't ask for too high a medal. "The note insists that I receive a  Silver Star."

"Hmm...very well, I shall arrange for that, all I have to do is ask Theodore about it first..."

"NO!!!" shouted Werdna, "...I mean...I don't think that he really wants to be hassled with anything to do with this newsletter anymore. As the note said, he hates this newsletter."

"Okay then. As you say, I shall not bother AD Theodore with this." agreed Sarriss, "I suppose I better leave you to carry on with your job as Editor."

CPT Werdna could hardly contain himself as FO Sarriss left the offices. Just before she walked out of the main door she shouted, "...and I expect the finished newsletter to be handed in within the week!!!"

Upon hearing this news, the new editor suddenly deflated with a defeated, "Oh, crap..."
