Wing III News Headlines
------------------------------------
- Where to begin? Let's start with the
Holiday Aftermath. During the Christmas season, I took an unexpected leave
of about a week and a half, and I'm still paying the price with EH make-up
work! But not to worry, I'm managed to whittle my inbox down to a measly 20
messages, and most of those are ungraded Christmas Bash submissions. So,
everything should be returning to normal around here (or as normal as things
ever get).
- Speaking of the Christmas Bash, I am still compiling the
results. I have missions to fly, fiction to read, and FCHG points to count.
The full results should be released in a matter of days, and the appropriate
medals awarded as well. I appreciate your patience as I sift through the
massive amounts of data and try to form it into understandable results ..!
- The "Place Your Bets" competition for the
Sovereign Squadron League is still running ... more info from the Sov SL for
you concerned betters as soon as it is released!
- We've got several good squadron competitions either
currently running or coming up, including Beth vs. Phoenix and Hey vs.
Dagger! Additional info and results will be posted in a future report when
available.
- Commendation of Loyalty time is fast approaching, and I
still need recommendations from Aleth and Hey ...
- CM Var Zoraan from Beth is petitioning for a Sovereign-wide
Message Board ... feel free to lend him your support!
- CMDR/LC Sequoh Marden is currently getting BlackHawk II
ready to launch. For those of you unfamilar with the BH system ... it is a
Wing III wargame / diplomacy simulation, masterminded and maintained by
Sequoh. BH2 is currently in need of players, so if you're interested, be
sure to e-mail Seq! Also be sure to check out the website : http://beth.emperorshammer.ca/blackhawk.html
Think your forces can take
on the RayCastle Alliance, the Mikalen Protectorate, or the Black Quasar
Colony Worlds? There's only one way to find out ..
- LateBreaking News : COM/FA Kramer, after years of trying,
has once again petitioned the Command Staff to change the SSSD Sovereign's
mission statement from 'Aurora Home Guard' to 'Patrol and Peacekeeping of EH
Territories'. If he is successful, the Sov will actually leave the Aurora
system for the first time in many months, and most likely see more open
combat situations. NOTHING is offical right now, however. More news on this
as it becomes available ...
- CMDR Jaster Sadista reports random difficulties with the
Aleth Squadron mailing list over the past few weeks ...
- Preferred Wing III IRC meeting times are still being
collected by CMDR Osan'gar and myself! Be sure to get in touch with us if
you have a preference.
- Aleth Squadron 'Personal Badge' currently in development,
project spearheaded by LCM Mayk Wolverine!
- Big News this week : The XWA League has begun once again.
As the only XWA Wing aboard the Sov, it is our duty to prove to everyone
that the biggest ship in the fleet is also the best ship. Beth and Daleth
did remarkably well in the last league, and I'm looking forward to seeing a
Wing III squad take the top spot this time.
- New Hey Squadron egroups mailing list being compiled by
CMDR Osan'gar!
- The Sovereign Research Project I am conducting is still in
Phase One (Info gathering). Work on the project ground to a halt over the
holidays. I am looking forward to resuming the work once the Christmas Bash
has been squared away.
- Last but not least, a new round of CRT Tests will begin
bright and early this Monday morning. Both Aleth and Daleth squads have
requested CRTs for next week ... good luck, pilots!
Wing III Orders
----------------------
- Say farewell to the Wing III 'orders' section. It will
merge with the 'News' section, beginning in the next report. If you think
about it, any new orders I have for you are really 'News' anyway ... ;-)
Wing III Quote of the Week
----------------------------------------
"Well, the holidays are over and everyone is
sobered up (hopefully), so now we can get down to business. Oh, and I want
the person who snuck that stuffed Hutt toy dressed as Santa in my office
after this report. I have something *special* for you." --
CPT Jaster Sadista
Other
notable quotes ... since the last report :
"Also, if Sequoh
steps down, we could get a really evil taking his place that would push us
to our breaking points and punish you for the slightest of things (yes, that
means I will request command...so think carefully about who you would rather
have in charge)" -- CPT Werdna Elbee responds to the rumor that Seq
might step down from Beth CMDR
"Ugh! Looks
like I can't do that to you!" -- Sequoh wisely decides to keep his
job
"Grats Cal!
(Sorry I'm that short, but if you would have been locked out at -30 C for 5
and a f*&%%$# half hour, you would be in a bad mood, too :P)" -- CM
Var Zoraan finds time to congratulate CM Cal Sinis on his promotion
" 'Hey - not a greeting but a squadron'
" -- CM Osan'gar
"Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet
engines." -- Anonymous
"WING NEWS: Our illustrious Wing Commander has uttered
the word 'sup'." -- Taken from Jaster's Aleth Report ... he can't
prove anything!
"Thanks Cal! Let's drink until we can't stand
anymore!" -- Seq gets ready to celebrate Cal's promotion, the old
fashion way

Wing III News Headlines
------------------------------------
- Lots of stuff to go over today, beginning with
a high level award for one of our pilots! Congrats go out to Werdna Elbee, who
recently recieved the distinguished Gold Star of the Empire for his continuing
work with the TC newsletter, 'BattleCry'!
- And let's not forget the latest round of
promotions to go through the wing! Congrats to LCM Tvan'Oris, CPT Jaster
Sadista, and LC Daniel Kamprath!
- Hey Squadron finally has a mission statement
on the rosters, instead of 'TBA'. Hey is now Wing III's Interdiction squadron,
which makes them responsible for hunting down and destroying / disabling any
craft that attempt to flee the area of engagement. I understand that Hey's
banner has been forwarded to SA Kawolski for posting at TC.ORG, but as of the
time of this report, the banner has not been added yet.
- Unfortunately, Hey Squadron lost their recent
competition with Ranger Squadron. I understand that the mission being flown,
FREE-XWA #22, has been reported as buggy, and may have contributed to Hey's
defeat. Still, LT Dan Jenkins was awarded the Hey Golden TIE for having the
highest score in the squad.
- Squadron CMDRs, don't forget that Commendation
of Loyalty time is upon us again! The system has been re-vamped by VA Wet
Willy, after last time's rather lack-luster treatment of the CoL's. Each CMDR
should send me a brief e-mail in which you list the 2 or 3 pilots in your
squad that are most deserving of the CoL. I already have Sequoh's
recommendations for Beth ...
- Former Wing III'er and now High Lord
Ambassador Guy (HLAG) Quake has created a Free Mission that features several
Wing III squadrons. If you own TIE CD, be sure to fly FREE-TIE #141.
- The "5 Days of Daleth Training"
competition ends tomorrow! All Daleth pilots, be sure to fly FREE-XWA #23 and
send it in to LC Kamprath before the deadline! Don't forget, winner gets an
ISM.
- This just in from LC Ford Prefect about a
possible Sov-wide continuing competition :
"The competition
will be run bi-weekly, held on the Undernet IRC channel #wing_i. From 2
pm CST to 10 pm CST, matches will be run and stuff...any pilot is free to
challenge any other pilot, whether via IRC, e-mail, or whatever medium...a
competition organizer must be contacted with the exact details of the duel,
though, including the mission, the participant's, their e-mails, and the
deadline for the duel. Any TC mission / battle may be used in these
duels. All participants in duels must send their .tfrs to the main
competition organizers before the deadline. The organizer then
acknowledges the .tfrs, and announces a winner to the participants.
After the competition has ended, Ford will count up all the results, including
total wins and losses for all participants, and post the details on TC.org the
next day. The competition will work in cycles...basically, four competitions
per cycle (two months). At the end of each cycle, the top overall
winners will be invited to challenge each other in a sort of champion's grudge
match. In addition to the rewards entailed below, the overall cycle
champion will receive an Iron Star, the runner-up a PC.
As for rewards...as LoCs are most a multiplayer medal and
would get Ford lynched by the ASF, Ford's decided to opt for the regular
medals, and praying like crazy that the TO allows the use of the Iron Star for
this competition. Basically, the system goes...5 wins, an ISM. 10 wins,
a PC. Continuous winning and high activity above ten wins may be awarded
additionally, though
Ford hopes to deal with that as it comes up."
Basically,
what we're looking at here is a revival of the old EH Ladder system of
competitions, which should prove exciting. Be sure to check it out when it
begins offically!
- An over-haul of the Wing III
IRC meeting schedule is currently underway, spearheaded by CM Osan'gar. Thanks
to everyone who has replied to the e-mail chain to state the best times for
IRC communication! In the meantime, Osan'gar reminds us all :
"...
I would like to inform everyone of the Wing III IRC meetings. They take place
on the IRC channel, #wing_iii at 6pm GMT (1pm EST) on a Saturday."
The time may
be changing soon, but try to show up just the same!
We did quite
well in the last league, and I'm looking forward to a repeat performance. I
know that most of you are itching to knock Ranger Squadron out of the top spot
and claim the title of best XWA squad in the fleet! CMDRs, be sure to sign
your squad up by contacting MAJ Badlands at this address : http://members.tripod.co.uk/eh_badlands/co2v2/lobby.htm
Lastly, a
note about CRRs and the XWA League. For the purposes of competition, the XWA
League is considered "challenging any other XWA squad in the fleet",
which means you MUST have a CRR of at least Level 2 to participate. This will
not be a problem for any Wing III Squad EXCEPT Aleth ... Jaster, your boys
must have a CRR of 2 or greater before January 6th if you wish to take part.
You may wish to contact me about this.
- While we're on the subject ... CRR
depreciation!!! That's right, January will not only mark the beginning of
2001, it will also bring lower CRRs for Beth and Daleth. Beth's CRR will drop
by one level (down to CRR Level 4) and Daleth's will drop one level (down to
CRR Level 2). Once the CRRs have 'expired' in January, they will continue to
be lowered by one level for each additional month that the squadron's fail to
re-test. Hey's CRR will not expire until February. All this info is listed in
every W3 report, just scroll up and look.
- CM Egg'Foo working on a new Daleth website!
Stay tuned for details.
- Past reports can now be shown at TC.ORG, and
I'm pleased to see that every CMDR in the wing has taken advantage of this new
system. I'm proud to say that every Wing III Report since I have taken command
has been posted. Special mention goes out to Daniel Kamprath, who has 49
Daleth reports online!!!
- The "Big" BattleCry #10 Competition
has awards that go all the way up to the Silver Star of the Empire! All
interested pilots should check out the website at : http://www.emperorshammer.ca/battlecry/
- Operation : BlackHawk has been canceled for
re-tooling and elimination of inactive players. LC Sequoh Marden promises that
BlackHawk II will be beginning soon, with updated rules, less resources, and a
much larger playing area (more space between planets) ... !
Wing III Orders
----------------------
- Participate in the Wing III Christmas Bash!
Here are the current standings :
HEY : 66 pts.
DALETH : 48 pts.
BETH : 25 pts.
ALETH : 7 pts.
Several
interesting things to report on here. First of all, about 75% of Hey's
outstanding score has come from one pilot ... LT Josh Popelka, who is flying
like crazy!
Second,
here's something you should all pay attention to. See Daleth's score? About
HALF of that came from points that Daniel Kamprath earned by doing the
Internet Scavanger Hunt. Squads who depend on flying alone are going to get a
surprise if anybody out there wakes up and starts participating in the other
catagories (Fiction, Hunt, and Mission Creation). They are worth MUCH more
points! The Scavanger Hunt alone will take you about 10 minutes, -tops-. If
every member of Aleth did the hunt, that squad could be in the lead right now.
Remember that
the deadline is the 28th of December!
Here are the
pilots who have particiapted so far (and so, the pilots who are eligable to
recieve medals) :
ALETH
CPT Jaster Sadista
LCM Mayk Wolverine
BETH
CM Var Zoraan
CPT Werdna Elbee
LCM Cal Sinis
DALETH
LC Daniel Kamprath
CM Van
CM Rothmans
HEY
CM Osan'gar
LT Josh Popelka
LCM Tvan'Oris
That's 11
pilots out of 38 in the wing ... with almost a month of time given ... and
with no participants AT ALL in the Fiction or Mission Creation catagories (and
only Dan in the Scavanger Hunt catagory). Hmmmmmmm ...
Wing III Quote of the Week
----------------------------------------
"Hello
and welcome. Well, actually, I take that back. You're not welcome. I hate
writing reports and I ran out of double-stuffed Oreo's to dip in my pina
calata. I am not a happy bunny." -- CPT Jaster Sadista
struggles with the burdens of command
Other notable quotes :
"Notice that a certain Squadron Commander
of Hey couldn't complete the mission because it was too hard and didn't send
in his file *Osan'gar turns around and starts shooting the
creator of FXWA 21 for making the mission so hard.*" -- Osan'gar
reveals his violent side
"Congratulations LCM Tvan'Oris! I'll most
likely come to your promotion party and bring some friends from Beth, ok?
There haven't been many promos for some time and I'm really looking forward to
this party!" -- He may only drink fruit juice, but Sequoh is still
the number one Bar Fly of Wing III ...
"Remember the drinks are on you, so get
your wallet ready" -- Osan'gar informs newly promoted LCM Tvan'Oris
about his new duties
"So then my first order as Lieutenant
Colonel is :Clean up you quarters I will make a quarter inspection...hmmm...argh...what
I'm talking here...All pilots report to the cantina immediatly!!!One of these
famous Wing III parties is waiting for you , So party on!" -- The
wise words of Wing III's newest Lieutenant Colonel, Daniel Kamprath
"Ultimately, this turns the CMDR into
nothing but a glorified cheerleader." -- LC Ford Prefect comments on
Flight Leaders doing BSFs. That's a frightening mental image, isn't it?
"The enemy of great is good." -- Anonymous

financially, and to add to your wardrobe at the same time ;-)
- This week's discussion topic : Which pilot of
the Sov should be 'Scrooged' for the short story I'm working on??? COM/FA
Kramer? WC/GN Wolly? FM/LT Renee D'Anclaude? Your opinion could make all the
difference!
