Sabrel Kun walked down the streets of Cloud City's Port Town. Ever since graduating from the Shadow Academy, he had resumed his search for the Jedi that had killed his brother. A day ago, while passing through the Bespin System, he had sensed the familiar presence of Vangrel's old teacher, Chu Dak. It was very faint, almost as if the Jedi were badly wounded. Sabrel smiled at this. At least his brother had put up a good fight. After hours of searching, Sabrel finally pipointed the wounded Jedi. As he entered the medical facility, visions of violent revenge danced through his brain. Unfortunately, these were dashed, as after using the Force to ward of some nosy, but stupid guards, he found the Jedi hibernating in a Bacta Tank.
"Well," he said to no one in particular. "I can at least kill you." Sabrel ignited his lightsaber, the one he had made from the remnents of his brother's saber, and slashed the tube open. Bacta flowed out, and Chu Dak was left hanging from the life support equipment. Chu Dak's apprentice entered just in time to see his master's body vanish. The young Jedi howled and drew his lightsaber.
As the saber's strange black, white, and grey blade extended, Sabrel realized, happily, that he might get a fight out of this after all. Then he recognized hte blade as one from one of the ancient guardians of the Sith temple that his brother had saught. " You are not worthy to carry a Sith weapon," Sabrel said. The Jedi charged with his saber, but Sabrel parried the swing easily. "Too bad Chu Dak never taught you good saber fighting," Sabrel said haughtily. Several more attacks were exchanged, with neither one's lightsaber getting through. Sabrel quickly realized that this may not be the easy fight he expected. Suddenly, Sabrel sensed the Jedi manipulating the Force. He tried to turn, but was too late, and the Jedi's flash blinded him. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground with the Jedi's saber pointed at his throat.
"Go ahead, kil me," Sabrel said. He could not live with being bested by this amatuer. "I can feel your anger. Strike me down. I am defenseless." The young Jedi seemed to falter, so Sabrel continued. " Or are you as weak as that old fool? I never even got the satisfaction of revenge. He was to weak to fight." The Jedi satrted to bring back his saber, but stopped and brought up into a salute position. He raised his hand, and Sabrel's lightsaber flew into it. Then he dropped it on the floor and, before Sabrel could get it, stepped on it, crushing the saber beyond repair. Sabrel finally lost control at seeing the Jedi destroy all that he had left of his brother. He felt the rage boil up within him, dark strength rising to match. Quickly, the fury reached the point at which it could no longer be contained, and Dark energy surged through Sabrel's body and out at the young Jedi. The Jedi flew backwards into the wall, and his saber clattered to the ground. Dark energy flowed forth, and the Jedi writhed in agony. Finally, with Sabrel's Dark rage spent, the lightning stopped. Sabrel used the Force to levitate the Sith lightsaber into his hand, and he ignited it as soon as he gripped it. Sabrel leveled the saber at the Jedi's chest. "You should have killed me," he said. "Unfortunately for you, I won't make the same mistake." Just then, blaster fire poured in through one of the room's doors. Reflexively, Sabrel blocked the fire, and turned to see who was shooting. The other two who had been with Chu Dak on that fateful day stood in the doorway, one holding a heavy blaster pistol and the other, a blaster carbine. Seeing that he couldn't win, Sabrel picked the moment of confusion as the Jedi ran and the new arrivals realized what had happened, to make his exit. Sabrel fumed as he flew his shuttle back to Eos. He had failed. Also, the uncontrolled release of energy had permanently scarred his face and body. Soon after returning, Sabrel was called in to see the Grand Master. Sabrel entered warily, wondering why Lord Khyron wished to see him. As he approached, the Dark Jedi gestured for him to sit.
"I know of your recent ,shall we say, encounter, with those that killed your brother," Khyron said evenly. Sabrel beacme nervous, wondering if the Grand Master would punisish him for his failure. "I am not going to punish you," Khyron said, apparently reading Sabrel's thoughts. "But you must learn from your failure. You must learn to control the Dark power, or it will overwhelm you. You rushed ahead for vengence, but were not yet ready. You killed the old one in his trance, and almost were killed yourslef by his apprentice. You became overconfident. Your uncontrolled release of rage may have saved you, and temporarily given you great power, but it also exacted its price." Lord Khyron gestured at Sabrel's burnt face. "You have the potetial to be powerful, but you must learn to control your anger, or it will control you. Used properly, it can be a great weapon. Used improperly, it can hurt you as much as your enemy, as you have seen. You must remember, rage is a two-edged sword. You may go." Sabrel rose, bowed, and returned to his rooms. That night, he made himself a new set of armor, including a helmet. He also made a suit of light armor with a simple mask for when he was relaxing. As he plotted how he would one day get revenge, he remembered the Grand Master's words to him. "Rage is a two-edged sword." To this day, that is Sabrel's creed.
